Lloyds do accept the trick is to not let them wear you down but you wear them down!

Stick to your guns and you will get there but it is so annoying in the meantime I appreciate that!

Quick question re dmp with cccs,If i was in a position somewhere down the line where i could pay off one of my debts and be in a position to offer a settlement how do i go about it (i know i'm thinking ahead)
Would i cal cccs or directly go to the loan companys themselves ?

    :D Thanks everyone

I think previous advice has been that you should treat all creditors fairly so any "lump sum" or "savings" you may have should be distributed fairly among your creditors. So if you contacted CCCS they would probably suggest this (unless the one you want to pay off is charging interest and others aren't).

Others have suggested offering full and final via a third party instead.

I agree. CCCS advised me against settling with single creditors. I have eight creditors and I have only once settled with one and that was when they issued me with a Statutory notice and CCCS agreed they were serious. There may be a time, when you have saved enough to make 'full and final settlement offers to all your creditors. I'm always surprised at how low some creditors and DCAs will go to settle. So, it might be worth saving up and waiting for that heavenly day when you're rid of all your debts !!!

    Hi All,

My first time on here, it's given me some encouragement to see that some people are in the same situation as me and are getting themselves sorted.

I've just been talking to Payplan, they have given me a ref no, and I'm waiting now for their documentation.

What do I expect next from my creditors? Reading some of the stories on here about phone calls etc, it seems like stressful times ahead!!!!!

  • Ardan Welcome:hello: . I am at the start of my DMP with CCCS and I have to say the calls were constant in the first fortnight but to be honest they seem to have stopped now (apart from Citi who kept ringing 3 times then stopping when OH called them they just wanted an update). I have 10 creditors and owe 39K:eek: So far 6 of these have said okay to our agreement and 1 has refused have not heard from the other 3.

Any questions just post on here. Good luck

  • Hello Ardan. Don't worry, although there may be a lot of phone calls for a time, these will fizzle out eventually. Just tell those that call that you are entering a DMP with Payplan and quote your case number. It's very much a case of broken record syndrome, but they get the message eventually.

This is a great board so please ask about anything you are unsure/worried about.

    :)

Phonecalls and letters are not half as stressful as wondering how you can afford food or clothes!

Saying that I took chicken way out and changed my phone number so only had letters to deal with. But I was doing it myself so wanted to be in the right frame of mind before tackling companies - ie, not before my first mug of tea :D

Well done on coming to the decision of how to tackle your debts and I wish you as smoother ride as possible.

Loads of people here who deal with the various companies you may have or in Payplan so you are in good company!

The phone calls to me haven't started yet, but I know that they will... As I know I will be awful on the phone and also really do not want my dad to know (but he comes round quite a lot and it would be so obvious if I'm avoiding the phone), I would be more than happy to change my home phone number.

But how did you go about doing this? Did BT charge you? Just to be prepared if they do get too much...

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I have a question.

Got a default notice from TSB today for the biggest credit card. It's dated 7th August and I sent everything to them for the DMP on the 5th so it's probably crossed in the post. Do I ignore it assuming that they now have the DMP letter and the small payment which would have been sent today or do I send them a reply?

It's too late to phone CCCS just now as they close at 8 so I can't ask them what to do.

    Thanks
    August 08 debt £58544.84, Paid £1668, Dec 08 Total £58236.48
DMP with CCCS £417 per month - Starting 01 Sept 08
Increased to £443 per month Jan 09.
  • Hi Ardan - Well done and welcome!!! :T

You will get to know the regular peeps over the coming months on this thread and you will get lots of help and advice. Even if you want to let of steam - this is the place to do it. Ask anything, no matter how small or silly, I did and still do!

I first contacted Payplan in May and have made them 2 payments todate. At first you do get the calls and letters, however, remember, most of them are automatically generated, as already said, just let them know you are dealing with PP and quote a ref number. To back this, you may want to send the creditors a letter with the ref number on, it just gives you something to back up when they call. The calls will soon die down. No matter how bad you are feeling if you get the calls, just post here and someone will be along with help.

An update on my situation for you all.........
Got home today, deep breath before opening the post.......
    Letter from M&S - DMP accepted :j

Statment from MBNA - No interest added and none for next month :j (5 days ago MBNA were making threatening calls to me - classic case of right hand not knowing what left hand is doing)!

Statement from Goldfish - sadly, still charging interest..... then the phone rings, surprise surprise it is Goldfish. Usual opening statement, you are in arrears we need xx amount blah blah blah. I asked them to check their system as they know I am dealing with PP, 'Oh yes madame' came the reply....I see we have just accepted a payment plan and will review this in 1 year - ditto above !!!!
So date, 9 Creditors have accepted and, 4 still to go  (OMG, so many creditors ) !!!!!!!!!!!
