I have heard of some others who had this issue but can't quite remember what happened sorry - think they had to wait till they were defaulted, but I'm not sure. Hopefully someone who experienced this will be along to help soon ;)

Rang up CCCS, they said HSBC are the worse ones for doing this and basically just batten down the hatches, weather the storm and eventually they will pass the debt on!

I am totally looking forward to the day I am rid of HSBC, I shall do naked cartwheels around the place for sure
  • Morning all, welcome newbies.

What will creditors do when they see I am paying for Sky subs and pet insurance, do they feel I shouldnt have any 'luxuries' or are they ok with 1 or 2?

Next question is for those of you who have 'known' me and my ramblings/SOA for a while, (sorry not wanting to exclude anyone just you may not want to or have the time to be bothered to take a look at my past posts) , I am asking about the offer of token payment letter. Im trying to compose a short paragraph to explain our situation but its become a bit of a ramble! Can anyone help please? :o So far I have:
Since making that above agreement with you, my circumstances have changed.
I cannot now afford to agreed monthly payments because as you are already aware I have been on Incapacity
Benefit since August 2007. Previous to that I was self employed.Since August 2007 I have been relying on money I had put aside however as I have already explained to you those savings ran out a couple of months
ago when even my minimum payments stopped to all my credit cards.I have since then been trying to find the help to repay my debts. As your notes should also show I have been keeping you up to date. I have found due
to the fact I have no surples income of £100. many of the free debt helplines (such as CCCS & Payplan) are unable to help me set up a DMP. Therefore I turned to National Debtline who are now supporting me by guiding me through the process. As my husband is still self employed he kindly donates his Working Tax Credits toward the priority household bills and food. However as you can see from the enclosed budget sheet I am finding it a struggle to
    even feed us!
I enclose a Personal Budget sheet which shows my total income from all my sources, and the total outgoings of my household. As you can see I have no money left to make offers of payment to my creditors except for a £1 token payment for 9 creditors to be treated fairly by me.
In view of my circumstances, would you please accept to be reviewed in six months. If interest or other charges are being added to the account, I would be grateful if you would freeze these so my debt does not increase.

Is it better to ask for a paying in book or a Standing Order form? I would prefer the SO form personally, less hassle and I know its paid on time!
    Many thanks.
    :D

Weird though how they treat people so differently  FirstDirect are part of HSBC and I never had any problem with them (but didn't have a loan with them) - they were the first to accept my DMP and reduced interest to 6% after one month - still can't get them to stop interest but at least it's not 19% like it was before :o

    hello all

horrible weather today but another day of battle commences lol

Ossireo - you mention earlier that hsbc refuse to cancel the standing order? do you mean direct debit though, as standing orders are set up by you and if you have internet banking available you can go online and should be able to cancel it, but with direct debits of course its the company that has to cancel it.

Ghosthunter - i was at your point you are now a few months ago, i too asked for a standing order form or book to pay my creditors, in the end i ended up paying via the bank giro slip on the bottom of the statements all mine credit cards and debenhams store card. However, i got fed up with this and all the creditors not sending me the info i requested so i set up my co op account new one, and then set about setting up bill payments from this account using the correct sc and account number and my own customer ref ie the full credit card number and sending an initial 1.00 - i left it about 5 days and then rang each creditor ensuring they had received the 1.00 then i paid the difference for that particular months payment. I now have all my creditors set up this way i can make payments allowing about 5 working days before they should recieve the payment and im hoping this is going to be better for me.

All until i get back to work and then i can really work at reducing the debt as fast as possible

hope this is of help any queries let me know

to everyone else have a fun day and i will be back laters

    ciao MAZ

Afternoon guys. I'm still shaking as I write . Upset and angry. Just had a phone call from a nasty lady from Mackenzie Hall acting on behalf of Student Loan people telling me that a doorstep assessor is coming to talk to me about my assets etc. That I have until next week to pay what I owe. I told her unless i see court papers to that effect I would not speak to anyone.
She said that they have the court papers that were signed by me and theat they have a CCJ against me.
I have never signed ANYTHING or indeed received ANYTHING from anyone about a CCJ. Is she just being horrible? She was laughing at me and calling me a liar. I want to cry now!
I have been trying to sort everything out. I wrote to them last week explaining that I do not need to pay the student loan back anyway because I have never earned enough to go over the repayment threshold.
How can i find out if this CCJ actually does exist?
    Please help.

  • Hi Rugbymum

Cant help you sorry but just wanted to give you a BIG HUGZ for comfort.

Im sure someone will be along soon with some advice.
  • Rugbymum I can not offer you any practical advise but i think it is awful how companys alow their staff to speak to people.

Ghosthunter I have been following your story but have not been able to offer you any advise in any way but wanted to say you seem to be doing well. I sent my letters off a few weeks ago and all i put was that due to higher living costs and having to give up work due to ill health as the reason my circumstances changed. I could have gone into much more detail but left it at that and so far no one has questioned it.

This morining Cap One wrote a letter giving notice of a default being served. Not worried about this at all but they are saying the reason is that we have broken our agreement with Cap One because we are entering into a long term payment plan with them. Now do you think that means Cap One have accepted our DMP. It is OH account and he is at work so can't phone them to find out.
