Hey everyone, how are we all? I've not written on here for a while as i've been so busy at work, but now its holiday time i thought i'd check in and also need so advice from you all please.

Well, all my creditors except Nationwide Credit Card had accepted my DMP and i was told by Payplan that they always took their time to get in contact. Well, its been over two months now and they are being quite difficult. I have kept them informed about my situation and had my I&E sent to them three times, all three they have not received, even when i had it faxed to them by their request. I have now received a letter from them saying that the account has been left in arrears and that they will be sending someone around to my house to collect payment. I called the customer services and they said 'yes someone will be around to discuss your account as its now been passed on to KPR collections'. Who are these people? When I spoke to the same customer service centre 2 weeks ago they said a visit wouldn't happen.
Has anyone had a visit by these people? At first I was a bit shocked and embarrassed about having a visit, but actually over night I've thought sod it, I haven't got the money to give and they can't take anything. I have been paying over £90 a month to Nationwide through my DMP but this still hasn't been recocognised as sufficient by them. Its sooooo annoying.

Should I be worried, or just go with the flow? The bloke at Nationwide gave me a number for KPR services but it wasn't recognised. Any ideas whats best to do now? I'm going to call my case officer at Payplan to see what she suggests, but I just wanted some ideas and thoughts from you guys if possible? xx

Oh yeah, they have served a 'default notice' too, lol. This is all so much fun!!
  • Afternoon all. Well MBNA have written to DH and I today regarding our credit cards. They have received the I&E from CCCS but will not accept the amounts proposed MNA want them increased by £25 each however the letter does tell us 2 pay the proposed amounts untill we are able to increase the payments but that they may default us however if we increase today they won't. Well we cant, they have our I&E and can see we cant how stupid are these companties. will send them of a letter saying we cant pay more and are disapointed that although they can see our I&E they still are trying to push for more and that other creditors (okay only 1 at mo) have accepted. M&S on the other hand keep sending letters saying we have not been in contact we have called and written to keep them up to date so just of to email them to let them know we are not ignoring them. Hope everyone is having a good day.

  • Thanks Rayday for the advice about the mortgage. I will bear Chelsea Building Society in mind. I have just also found out my early repayment fees to switch to another mortgage provider will be £4500 which adds another aspect to it!

    Hi

Hope you dont mind me butting in but I have been on a DMP with Payplan for about 18 months now.
I have been a total idiot and have gone and got more credit by accumaliting an overdraft of £3k.
Now I have not told Payplan as , I am aware , the term of the DMP have been broken. When my bank ask for the money back from the OD , which they will as I cannot afford to pay it all back in one go , Will it be easy for me to stick to the payments I am currently paying my creditors and set up one for the OD. I know I will have to do this on my own and was wondering how easy a self managed DMP is to do.
If the bank get funny I am frightened they will take me to court and ask for money I do not have.

  • Hello everybody

Had a bit of a busy weekend so not managed to get online and still not managed to post off my budget sheets :o

I did manage to do them though and have discovered we will only be left with £144.32p per month BEFORE food and creditor offers :(

Ive had a letter from Aqua saying unless they receive payment of arrears they will issue a default, Capital One have said their next step is to pass me onto a debt collection agency if they dont hear from me. Etc etc.

I have finally got a new account number with Natwest but no cashcard and no idea if theres a cheque book.

How do I send payment to creditors if it gets to that? I am reluctant to send a cheque from new account (if I even get accepted for a chequebook) as they will all then know I have a new bank account. Nobody else knows about my DMP so I cant ask them to write me a cheque. I assume Postal Orders are the next best thing?

    Whats the next steps?

I have some savings that could clear arrears on credit cards so I am back within my limit, would this be a wise thing to do to give me a bit more time?

Is it better for me to send a proposal first to show I am willing to pay?

Or should I jump straight in and ask them to wipe out my debts illustrating the fact we barely have enough to live on without repaying them?

Or should I ask them to agree to a full and final settlement (I think thats the one that says I will pay back half of what I owe if they wipe out the other half)?

I am inclined to send them the first 2 options (proposal and ask them to wipe slate clean) but afraid they will say im contradicting my finances.

Some of the cards are suggesting they will soon cancel any PPI as they havent received minimum card payment for 3 months. Should I send the credit card charges and PPI reclaims off now before its too late?

I have stopped answering the telephone, it goes to answerphone (and mobile). They dont seem to be getting the message, its such a drag down to have to hear that phone ringing 20 times a day per debt (9 debts)!! Well maybe thats a bit of an exageration but when they dont give it a break even on a Sunday its getting me down!

    Many thanks as always.

Don't worry about these. Just continue to proceed with your DMP as advised. You will get these threats. (They are hoping you will magically come into money and pay up) They should get less over time and to be honest I reckon the sooner I get passed onto DCA's the better. Interest is stopped and they tend to accept your payment plans much quicker

I assume Postal Orders are the next best thing?

You could also pay the token payments and the bank or po using cash and inform the creditors in writing that you have made token payments. That's what I did.

I have some savings that could clear arrears on credit cards so I am back within my limit, would this be a wise thing to do to give me a bit more time?

I wouldn't bother. Keep this money as a safety net. They will have to learn soon enough that you can no longer afford the payments expected and if you send them this money you risk them not believing you.
Or should I jump straight in and ask them to wipe out my debts illustrating the fact we barely have enough to live on without repaying them?
I would be very suprised if this is successful. If I were you I would continue with my DMP and then offer full and final settlements after putting some money aside.
Should I send the credit card charges and PPI reclaims off now before its too late?
Don't worry about the charges. You will be able to claim these back at any time. Even if you miss payments.

I was having exactly the same problem with one of my creditors (GE money) In the end I answered it and firmly told them that they are aware of the situation and not to call me again or it would constitute harrassment and they haven't called since. They now write. I know it's hard but be brave (or just ignore the phone...i don't blame you)

    Good Luck

  • Hi

Thanks Jvic for the quick reply

How can I pay the token payments at a bank or PO by cash?

How do I show £317.52p worth of my income is from husbands Tax Credits and £300. is from my Incapacity Benefit? That's our / my total income as any other money belongs to hubbys business and just covering overheads at moment. :(

Considering I only have £144. to feed 2 adults and 2 dogs for 1 month how much roughly should I offer them, I have 9 creditors in total?

Do I fill out and send in the Personal Budget sheet that National Debtline sent to me or do I do it on a blank piece of paper?

    Thanks again.

put that money away. You need an emergency fund.

I disagree with jvic on this one. If anyone is a candidate for having debts written off, you are. I would suggest token payments of £1 each with your statement of affairs and use the NDL template letter to ask for the write off.
Or should I ask them to agree to a full and final settlement (I think thats the one that says I will pay back half of what I owe if they wipe out the other half)?
Really, you don't have the money to do this. you have to keep an emergency fund for the unexpected... remember that boiler repair?.....
Some of the cards are suggesting they will soon cancel any PPI as they havent received minimum card payment for 3 months. Should I send the credit card charges and PPI reclaims off now before its too late?
If your circumstances have changed since you took out the finance, maybe the PPI will cover it. Worth making the call. Otherwise, if it was mis-sold (as most seem to have been) reclaim the money.

If the home phone rings and you know it's them, pick up the receiver and put it straight back down again. They will get it eventually.

    Hi

Thanks Jvic for the quick reply

Just take your bill along to your bank or PO with the cash and hey presto! Just beware the PO may charge a small fee for this but they will be explained on the back of your bills.
How do I show £317.52p worth of my income is from husbands Tax Credits and £300. is from my Incapacity Benefit?

Not sure on this one as I don't have any benefits coming in so not sure what evidence you would have. I'm sure someone else will be able to help on this one shortly.
Considering I only have £144. to feed 2 adults and 2 dogs for 1 month how much roughly should I offer them, I have 9 creditors in total?

Not sure what to do here really as I don't know your level of debt etc. I have approx £10k of debt with 11 creditors and pay £103 to CCCS in total. Are you running your own DMP or are you using CCCS/Payplan? Post your SOA so we can try find ways for you to cut back.

Also, make sure you are claiming all benefits you are entitled to. You can do that here : http://www.entitledto.com/
