  • Water meter - our bill, not metered was £32 a month. Went on the meter and it's £18.09 a month and we are in credit at around £25 too, so it was definitely worth it!

    :)

Thanks for your reply your debt is a similar amount to mine ,i owe £26,000 just over £100 per month would be a more realistic figure for me too . I have just worked out my surplus and it is £105 per month to pay my creditors . Have your creditors all accepted your DMP ? Mine have all accepted but if i reduce mine by about £150 per month i cant imagine them being to happy as at the moment i am paying them £250.

I think it would have been different if i had been paying £105 right at the start but does everyone think it would be wise of me to try and reduce my DMP by so much ? I do think though whats the point of being on the DMP if im still struggling .

Well i rang CCCS and told them im struggling and to see if i could reduce my payments they were as always very supportive . They said dont worry to much about creditors lots of people are having to reduce there DMP because of the cost of living going up . I asked about the allowance for the food budget for a family of 5 and they said they allow £430 a month i think this is alot i can do ours for £60 per week . I have reduced my plan by £150 per month it does seem like a big reduction i cant help but worry what the creditors will say but i do feel a bit happier now i have made that phone call and i will not have to struggle as much .

Try not to worry I'm sure the CCCS are right. There are lots of people struggling at the moment and the principle is the same - you are paying what you can afford! creditors will find that many people are feeling the pinch and they will just have to accept it!

YM - Thanks for the congrats, I'm very excited about my medal!

    Hi!.....Noob here....go easy on me

Well me and my G/F have been accepted onto Payplan, the first payment goes in this Friday(£100).

We were with All-clear finance, but they were charging us for their services, so we decided to goto payplan. We owe about 22,000(this number looks scary on screen!) on unsecured loans and catalogues, but my ex bank (yorkshire bank) is sending me letters nearly on a daily basis.

I am very worried over this, as the letter is stating that their solicitors are going to get involved. Has anyone on here had any dealings with them?

My G/F doesnt seem to be too bothered about it......she just says to me that they will only get what we can afford...

    Hi Adam
Welcome to the boards and well done on facing up to your debts and starting to sort them out. I am on A dmp with CCCS and you have definately made the right choice to go with a free debt charity.I am sure that Yorkshire Bank are just trying to scare you into paying more than you can afford. If you are worried give Payplan a ring and they will be able to advise you.

Good Luck on your debt free journey.

Carlos, fantastic news. The creditors may grumble initially but I'm sure they'll get used to it. I'm sure you are feeling a great relief now.

Adamandmaz, welcome to the board. Your GF is right - they can't take what you don't have. Don't let the barstewards get you down. You'll find once that first payplan payment goes things will start to get beter and you'll feel a lot of the weight being lifted from your shoulders.

Teecee, well done on your medal. :T

Ghosthunter, I've done various searches in the reclaim boards for Aqua and drew a blank. The general advice from the moderator on there is to send it initially to the address on your statement. I would go that route first and see where it takes you. I'm waiting to see what happens with a few of mine in the next couple of days. I have told Cahoot and Open & Direct if they don't cough up I'm starting court proceedings on 1 August. :rotfl: Of course I'll do no such thing but I like threatening them for the hell of it. I'll set the ombudsman on them though. I'm also expecting a response from my letter 1 to Studio. Today I got standard letters from GE Money x 2 to say thanks for asking for your charges information but we are inundated but will try to sort it soon.
