Here's me babbling on about nail varnishes and weddings! All babbling is welcome. Everyone has things that worry them, they are just as valid.
My oh my you've had a rollacoster year! SO sorry to read about it girl! If that was me i would be a heap on the floor bubbling into my nail varnishes... but you are sounding so strong for both you and your family! Thanks sometimes I wish I could be a blubbing heap on the floor, but there is noone to cover for me so I have to do it. But I will be taking some time off soon, or else there is going to be a problem.
Keep positive (a home, 2 lovely boys and It COULD have been up around 58k) and lessons learned (check your insurance) on that note I think I'll be checking out ours at the beginning of the year! May need to pop back in for advice on that one xx
Thanks for popping by.

So thanks to Mr Bloater I have signed up to a 2stone 2 grand in 4 months challenge. And you know what I think it has finally focussed me on what I want to do. Ie that probably the most important thing for me at the moment is to lose the weight, and get some money saved (in my wardrobe so that it doesn't get swallowed up). I am sure that feeling happier in how I look will translate into a more confident ME. I feel I have lost me at the moment.
Not sure it will be a smooth ride, especially not once I find the Shred dvd that is somewhere in the house:eek::eek:. But still.
Even if I only get halfway there that will be an improvement on not starting.

Hi Grey thanks for stopping by.
Having a grr at my mum today. Sigh. She doesn't mean to be annoying, but she refuses to get her ears checked and I refuse to keep raising my voice.......And she WON'T talk about it either. It is ridiculous really, she gets her eyes checked religiously, and always had the lady checks done religiously too, yet try and get her to have a hearing check and I get my head bitten off.
Then she wonders why I don't watch tele with her. When she asks I say it is too loud and hurts. We have the tele set a 9 for sound and she wants it on at least 15 to be able to hear it:eek:
Oh and my bread maker packed up today, and egg and chips fell on my plate last night......

Well it has been an interesting time. We finally got my mum to agree to go on a trip. I am sure she will enjoy it. I would love to have gone it myself. Nice little trip round north island, in a nice level of comfort. I just wish we hadn't had so much stress to get her to go.....
I have a problem that maybe someone can offer some advice on. My lovely DS has an issue that when he is focussed on something, he forgets to go to the loo. This time he forgot to go to the loo on the sofa and soaked it right through to the base. Does anyone have an idea as to how to clean it. I have washed the covers, and soaked the foam from the seat bits, but it is the material in the base that I am struggling with. Someone has suggested a steam cleaner, another person has suggested using baking soda. But I am hoping someone might have a suggestion that has actually worked, before I have a go with something. This is our only sofa. It was a bargainous find and is very comfortable. We only got it 6 months ago, and really can't afford to replace it. Furniture is VERY expensive over here...so any suggestions gratefully received.
It is weird, but it has overshadowed the major good news we have had in that the other side has decided to settle the oil tank saga claim. The money we will have to pay is still in the tens of thousands of pounds, but at least this way my OH won't have to fly back to the uk to testify....And we still have to get the finance in place, which we are hoping will be done soon.
Dang just sooo tired with it all. It occurred to me that everyone else has a holiday over christmas, the kids, OH (had two weeks off), my mum, but who is still washing the sheets everyday (DS still isn't dry at night, and overflows a nappy most nights), still doing all the meals, organising the holiday clubs, taking everyone around? Muggings here.
I know in part I have made a rod for my own back. I doubt my OH even knows how to use this new washing machine:rotfl:. But even so it is the fact that it doesn't even occur to him to ask if anything needs doing that bugs me. Then he is surprised and a bit resentful when I ask him to do things. And if I do ask, it means that I want it done then and there. All to often I ask him to do something, and if it gets done at all, it is hours later, or the next day....
I guess part of the issue is that it is so hard to do things with the kids. They have both tested as gifted children (top 4% or 1% for most abilities educationally), but their not behaviour exactly, but way of being is such that, for example, I have to drag them to do cooking with me, and they are so cack handed with it, that it is just stressful. But it is also circular, if they cooked more with me they would be more practiced and it would be less stressful, but at the moment, it is so stressful I don't want to do it with them:(.
At the moment both boys are desparate for a pet. For my DS1 especially who has struggled so hard this year to get up to a level with his reading that is age appropriate (he is dyslexic, the only thing he isn't gifted at), that he deserves a pet. He only wants a rabbit bless him. DS2 wants a cat and I was up for getting him one, but whilst he isn't toilet trained himself, I don't want to go through the hassle of toilet training a pet too. And we now live on a really busy main road, so I am dreading a pet getting splatted, and the heart break this would cause....So then we have the explaining that we can't get a kitten right now, and him saying but DS1 can get a pet, and it isn't equitable....
He has said before about getting a turtle (a bit different from a cat I know lol), but he wouldn't be able to play and handle it. And the vivariums cost $1000 just for a small one, even before you get the turtle:eek::eek::eek:
I am sorry this has turned into such a winge, but there really is no one else I can 'talk' to about this. My OH doesn't really want a cat anyway, so is hard work to talk to about this anyway.
And I want a cat for myself too. This is the longest time I haven't had a cat (3 years) since I was 18 months old. And I hate not having something to pet..
Oh well off to do volunteering, and to be reminded that I have a roof over my head, and nice things (even if a bit worn and down at heel now).
Hopefully in a months this tank saga will be behind us. And that will be a great weight off our shoulders. Even if settling leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Hi chevalier..I subscribed to your diary yonks ago and then my LBM switched off and I left the forums..I am back with gusto now. Doing the small dfw things thread every day etc. really questioning what I spend so am just checking in and seeing you're a bit glum.
It's hard. Having visited a dear friend ( affected by the earthquakes as she lives in lyttleton on the SI) there in 2005 I do appreciate how far away you can feel from everything and tbh it's like you're still settling in..the kids too I guess. I also have a dyslexic bed wetter of 8. She now pretty much dry during the day but nights she is wet every night even if I 'lift' her. We are trying to get her to drink more.. On medical advice... Thats apparently often the issue but the laundry is knackering. I hate it. We have enough anyway without bed linen too. We spend a fortune on bed mats ( or pull us if she is sleeping in someone else's place) and I now hate that too! But I am sure it'll be OK soon. If I get any more tips will pass them on
Great news re oil tank. Yes it's hateful but at least it's closure and it seems its less than you had planned for.
Your mum..say no to anything of this length next time. You owe it to yourself. Unless she pulls her weight and respects its your house then 3 or 4 weeks max... Sounds like your blood pressure can't stand anything else!
Anyway you'll be getting up now I guess...have fun in Gods Own Country!!!:T

Oh Chev,
I really want to give you a big hug. It sounds as though you are exhausted running around after everyone else.
RE the sofa -have you tried the Old Style board?
I wonder if you can ask york hubby to take over for one day over the weekend to give you a day off. If you're anythinb like, me, you won't know what to do, with yourself but it may just give you some much needed time out.
Good luck
