The ones that have really shaken me are the ones that the New York Times had up - satellite images where you could move a slider to see "before" and "after" - there was one of Sendai that just made my blood run cold.
Chev - so glad that it didn't hit you in the end, but sorry it's caused you some problems in taking precautions against it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Agree on Japan, totally .... but chev, I also caught what you said about reasons for missing oh .... quite a lot of sadness in that, I think .... thinking of you, and hoping you can work it out.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

hey chev ... it's no wonder you will be missing oh just now ... it's simple things that make us miss them like putting out the rubbish and making cups of teas ... without the added stress that you have all been through ... talking to a loved one one to one ( not on the phone or net) about whats happening and having your fears recognised and comforted is important ...
love and wishes with you all at this time0 -
Bit of a mixed weekend.
As some of you might remember I had decided to sort of by pass OH, and start saving for a freezer out of my housekeeping and other money. This was because otherwise he would always be moaning that we couldn't afford it.
I counted up my money in the week and had $480 so nearly half way to a new freezer.
Imagine my delight on seeing a nearly new one on Trademe for $550 - yippee. So I bought it. I had the $480 saved, and then checked my other piggy banks and there was another $40 in there:beer::beer:. So I only now have to find $30 to have paid for it! Yeee haaaaa!
On the other hand. DS1 is full of cold and has a temperature, so we had to miss the club championships for surflife saving today. This is a realy pain as DS2 had a really good chance of winning some of his events.SIGH. But that is what happens when you have one parent away.
And now it looks like OH will be in Mexico for another week. Ho hum

Fantastic bargain .... Well done .... Hope the wee one gets better soon .... Sorry oh will be away a wee while longer but just think more space for ya to stretch out in bed .... Thats gotta be good0
-
Ugh to your OH having to be away longer Chev - it's the little things isn't it, and whilst we all need some time to ourselves too, there is such a thing as too much of it!
Excellent news about the freezer - well done you for spotting that one that you could just about afford! What a difference that will make, too!
Hope DS is feeling better now.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi all
Sorry to be MIA but with OH in Mexico things have been busy busy busy. He has ended up staying nearly an extra 2 weeks. I am ok with it because it means that i can have extra play time in wellington once he is back.
In other news we are going to see this
http://hamilton.v8supercars.com.au/
This is about 2 hours south of us, and we get to see loads of motor racing AND ZZ Top as well. As I am a bit of a metal head at heart, this is an ace combinination.
Best of all BB King is playing here the week after and OH has said that I can go to that too:j:j. I maybe will take DS1 too. I am trying to get him interested in music at the moment.
I have decided to get both of the DS's educationally assessed. This is a pychological assessment, as well as an educational one. I need to know whether DS1 really is dyslexic and if he has any other problems. I hate that he struggles to read so much. And the wicked part of me also wants to know if he isn't dyslexic is he lazy (not something you want to admit about your kid). With DS2 he is so advanced in some thing, that I want to know if he is in the gifted (ie top 4% of his age group for things), so that he can be stretched at school. I don't want him to get bored and turned off it.
He already comes home with facts he has read! The last one was that the Marianas (sp) Trench is deeper than Mount Everest is high. Fair enough, but he had remembered what the depth and the height were in metres as well!
My volunteering work is going ok. It is nice to meet some new people, and am learning the ropes. it has been quite an eye opener actually as the clothes they send to rags are in a better state than some of the things I still wear:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. I have already told the shop manager that I will just put my old clothes in the rag bank as there is no point in giving them into be sold at the shop!
Am very pleased as I finally did some listing and put up one item for $15.99 as a laugh, and blow me if someone hasn't bid at that price! Nice one.
Having got my freezer (which seems to work fine so far:T), I am now just saving for the testing above. It cost $720 per child, so anything I can shave off other places and save up is a plus.
We are now starting winter sports for the boys. DS1 does soccer and DS2 does rugby league. Last year this was a real hassle as their games were at similar times, but in completely different places. This year though DS2 games are at 0900 and DS1 games are at 1100. So it should mean that we can cart around each child to the right place without it causing too much hassle.... we shall see.
Managed it this morning on my own. Even managed to ensure that the right child had the shin pads and the mouth guard. Because they absolutely won't let children play without these bits of kit!
Right I must go and do some knitting and watch Buffy on the tv. I will have something more interesting to do when the Shred dvd arrives:eek:
