yes good point hypno. but at the moment i am kind of using it like a spending diary seeing where my time is REALLY going.... If I am to get a job I need to know how much time I am still going to have to allocate to these tasks..and do a job on top. but once i am starting to use my time more efficiently then yes a weekly list will be a way forward.

You are getting through the list, but instead of rolling over from one day to another and feeling like it is never ending, how about having one list per week and working on it over the period of a few days?
That is such a good idea. why on EARTH didn't I think of that before.
Hi Chev- got your diary moved then!
I know what you mean about the list and the grrr when something goes on again (fish tanks they are always on there!!! )
I am dragging my sorry !!!! through my evening at the moment, weird thinking you are just starting(well sort of) must go to bed!!

So I am due in the next few days to change over clothes from winter to summer.
For the boys this is pretty easy - take out long sleeve tops and put in short sleeve, plus shorts. Decide what of DS1's clothes won't fit him in 6 months time, and put them aside for DS2. Do the same for DS2 and sell/donate these depending on how manky they are. ( I should add that children's clothes are passed on here in a much worse state than I would ever have considered passing on in the UK. this is because clothes are so expensive proportional to ones income.).
But for me I have a problem that I want your views on. I basically wear clothes until they wear out. This led to the interesting point this winter, where I had about 2 pairs of trousers because ALL the other wore out in a non mendable place:o!
I have over the years culled the size 10 stuff, and have done a if it wasn't worn last summer it goes cull too. But now the stuff I have left does pretty much all get used over the summer. As I used to buy t shirt baggy, cos I could, and now having put on weight they fit as they should, I can't say oh they don't fit so I will throw them.
BUT I bought good quality stuff, and so it hasn't faded, or ripped or anything, I just seem to have a lot of it, and I am quite bored with it. The idea of Gokking my clothes frankly is terrifying. And I kind or resent giving away 'perfectly good stuff'.
So I feel a bit stuck. I suppose it is also because I have SO MUCH other stuff to sell that is new, that i also can see no way or releasing the money for it either...
Oh I don't know, what do others think?

Buffy I don't know what will work really. I have had a massage, put tiger balm on it. Hot showers etc. the thing I can't do is really rest it, as I am on the go so much during the day with the kids etc....I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi Chev
Lot of info in your posts to digest....and am up to mye ears in my final response to the Financial Services Ombudsman (oh yep - like you mine is still going on big time :rotfl::rotfl:)
So I'll come back and see you properly in a few days time
I can certainly confirm the benefits of Hypno;s suggestion on the list for a week rather than daily...my level of stress/angst has been remarkably reduced from the norm ....(given I am very very capable of beating myself up on a daily basis if I don;t achieve my impossible targets)
Hugs to you Hun and really good to see you back on your diary

Hi Chev,
Re the clothing dilemma. I recently had a colour analysis and style review done. It wasn't cheap but I had reasons for doing it: I had got stuck in a very boring uniform; I kept hoping I'd lose some weight and haven't really; Most saved clothes are now 'Out of date'; I no longer knew what suited me; my clothes were coming to the end of their life and now that I am debt free I want some new clothes. As well as all that, I needed a major self confidence boost. The session was hard, I learned some interesting things and had to accept some hard things
too. The session has really helped me to let go of good pieces which fit me but don't suit my colouring or shape. It has also given me better ideas about what to buy so that I don't waste my money on pieces that I might wear cos they looked good on the hangar or on someone else who has a very different
physique.
In terms of your clothes, could you decide what you definitely want to keep; decide what could be improved with a bit of styling, accessories or even some clothing dye. And then maybe think about arranging some swaps or few new pieces that make you feel a bit better and more interested in your wardrobe.
Hope this helps!

Hi Chev,
I started my wardrobe overall a while ago. I did find excesses of some bits - shirt type blouses especially and some other bits. Like you too good to throw and really they do look OK too. So all I did was put the excess away in a suitcase until some wore out and so they'd feel less boring after a break. I did recycle/charity shop anything that didn't fit well/look good. I did buy a few different tops, accesories etc just to liven things up too, but it wasn't like replacing everything.
The other benefit of having less to wear in the wardrobe is at least the ones in current use do get more wear, so they'll wear out quicker, so there's space for a fresh bought replacement or raid your suitcase which will cost you nothing.
Current shopping, I'm far fussier about what I buy, things have to be just right for classics, but occasionally I will buy something more disposable just as an update for this season. I also take things back to the shop now. Sometimes with different lighting and being able to look in a mirror from a distance, things that look Ok in the shop don't look so good when you try it on at home. Also try to get someone you trust to go with you.
I've got a break booked in London, so going to try to book a personal shopper session then, just to see if a different viewpoint could come up with some new ideas. Currently I do tend to go through rails and pick up the things I know suit me, rather than trying on 'different' things, but that's probably because I don't like shopping really. Already had one makeup makeover, and going to try to get another one of them then too.
Hope your wardrobe overall goes well.0 -
I found it hard, chev, when I did my wardrobe - like you it was easy to do the "doesn't fit, won't ever fit, didn't wear it last year or the year before" thing.....but when it came down to getting rid of stuff that was perfectly good and wearable, I had the "but its a waste" thing going on.
Eventually, I took a deep breath and the question I asked myself was "do I enjoy wearing it?" and if the answer was no or not really, then it went in a pile to give away. So stuff I was simply bored of wearing was passed on.
By creating my capsule wardrobe since, I have spent a lot more time thinking about what goes with what, and buying things that I like to wear and feel good in. Yes, it has cost a little, but compared with the difference in the way I feel now, I reckon I have got pretty good value for money - definitely investing in myself!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh shaun it is SO good to see that some things don't change. this made me laugh out loud! Hope things are going on well for you. thanks for the advice regarding clothes decluttering, i think i just need to get EVERYTHING out on the bed and really look at it all. I kind of wonder whether one of the reasons i am not losing weight is because subconsciously i have all these clothes that are x size, and i kind of think that i SHOULD be using them still... not sure if that is a very good explanation but...
