thanks for all your kind comments. I knew it was missing something in the centre but couldn't decide what. PLM suggested some letters so I will add them (prob 'family') and frame it for OH for valentine's day.

This is a little album I've put together for my OH for his birthday, no photos included just quotes about being a dad...

I used a chipboard album, papers and chipboard stickers from Basic Grey. I printed all the quotes in different fonts and tore them off the paper and used a brown ink pad to 'age' the paper. I'm really pleased with it, hope you like it too :D

Aplogies for the number of pics, wanted to show you the whole thing :o

Thank you soooo much for sorting my head out Rainmac! Your album is fantastic!

I have been trying to sort my head out over what I wanted to do scrapbooking wise for ages. I desperately wanted to do one, but not a photo based one if you know what I mean and you have pulled all my ideas together.

This will be my first attempt, I have bought a mini card one and am going to use backing papers to cover the card and then want to do a 'scroll-like' thingy with sisters quotes.

Could I ask how you aged your paper with ink.
(Apologies, if this is rambling, but I don't know anything about scrapbooking at all - can you tell lol?!!)
Here I stand, foot in hand
    staring at the wall
I'm not quite right at all

Thank you so much :o I have only made one before and that came with embellished papers so all I had to do was add photos and some comments. I wasn't sure what to do with the quotes so I tore them off of the paper and then gently rubbed a brown ink pad round the torn edges and gently touched the ink pad against the paper so brown bits showed in random places. I really like the effect but didn't really know what I was doing ;) I've bought a white ink pad today do do similar to coloured paper and card.

Does that make sense, please shout if it doesn't :D

Good luck with your album :T

bunbun I think it looks lovely.
Rainmac That is gorgeous, Can I ask where you got the chipboard album from?
    Minimakka that is sooooo sweet!
I wish I had more hours in the day there is so much I want to do! Well I have to say reading and seeing all these things have really cheered me up, I'm full of flu and feeling very sorry for myself!

Hi Hels, the album was the oblong one from this site but I see it's now out of stock... http://www.docrafts.co.uk/asp/products/Default.asp?p=761

The latest issue of Docrafts Creativity shows how to make little book albums with cardstock and acetate for pages which is something I'd like to have a go with. You can just tie together with ribbons or a book ring.

Hope you feel much better soon :D

Minimacka, love your scrapbook page, it's so bright and boyish, I love it :T

rainmac - think I'll have to get that magazine - & quick.
Not a clue where to start with card and acetate - no nothing at all about acetate
I did do a memory book (sort of) that was a back and front cover, with a double hole punched edge and a sort of sliding thing like you get with folders sometimes. The other side had one hole punched in and a ribbon threaded through it to hold it shut. All I did with that was write things from my first memory onwards, so it became a sort of book, some pages had photos added but I had them copied onto the pages. Hope that makes sense. Am I going along the right lines ?
Like yours better though. Think I just might see how much those little scrapbooks are at out craft shop. Was thinking of doing one for my foster daughter as well...........I'm not her Mum and she never calls me that but we have a sort of Mum/daughter relationship as well as being friends. Don't know where I'd find quotes for that sort of thing though.
Hope you had a good day at Rushden and didn;t spend too much:j

Thanks for the info, I am hoping to have some time tomorrow afternoon to get to make a start.

I have a bad case of MSE itis, I start reading one thread and then get distracted and before I know where I am another couple of hours have passed. I now have a pad with all my ideas written down, all the things I want to do, and who I want to do them for (family pressies etc). I just need to apply myself more to actually getting down to it!:rotfl:

Did have a lovely time at Coleman's, thanks mary :D

The magazine comes with some lovely free butterfly chipboard stickers. Think it's £2.50 and there are several album/book type ideas in there to have a look at.

rainmac - thanks. I'll send OH down for it on Monday - well they've forecast snow so I'll take no chances but he'll not last without the Daily Paper.........lol And free stickers !!!:T
Must admit I prefer your 'quotes' version for my boys and foster daughter than putting photos in. They already have the same photos anyway.
Oh, have you tried ageing paper with strong coffee ? My son always used that at art college - said it worked better than tea which was what he'd been taught at school.
I used to age reproduction advertising posters with dark oak wood stain - sort of wipe on-wipe off , just enough to tint it but not take the colour off. I think there's all sorts of methods. Case of which you feel happiest with.

rainmac I ordered some chipboard mini albums from craftwork cards and think I may do something similar to yours for mothers day. I think it is a nice idea to use quotes as it makes a change from photos.
