Hi,
I am looking for some help in making a scrapbook.
I'm getting married in 2.5 weeks, and have booked a surprise honeymoon for my W2B. She thinks (I've fooled her into thinking) we're going to Italy, but we're really doing a Californian fly drive.
I thought it would be nice to present her with a scrapbook when I tell her what we're actually doing. My idea was for an A5 ish size book, with a page for each day, saying where we are going. Then with blank spaces for her to write various comments, such as what she enjoyed most about the day, what we did or what her favourite food was etc.
It would form a nice surprise at the time, and keepsake for afterwards.
Problem is I've not got an artistic bone in my body and dont really where to start.
Can anyone recommend a decent online shop? I had a look in a local place earlier but couldn't find a nice hard back book with decent quality plain paper. Then gave up.
Any help / ideas much appreciated.0 -
Wow, your OH is very lucky to have you
I would say with such little time left to do it, just get what you can. You could probably find something online, but by the time it arrived you might only have a week to do it!
Try looking at normal photo album sections in shops like Boots, Tesco, Asda, WHSmiths. I bought a spiral bound book a while ago for my mum from Boots I think ( about 6 - 8 inches square ) with just plain pages inside.
I wouldn't normally advise hobbycraft as it's quite pricey...but if you have one near you it'd be worth a look. You might find a bit of inspiration by having a look.
Online shops - there are loads. I've bought from The Glitter Pot, Craft Superstore and I buy a fair bit from ebay.0 -

Yay! A man venturing into the crafts forum! :T
I saw a lovely blank A5 travel book in a gift shop today. It was very simply designed (although it had a designer price on it!) to look like an airmail letter. This was drawn (or maybe it was embroidered?) with just a nicely written name and address and a postmarked stamp. It also had a key fob attached to it that had a mini silver aeroplane, an Eiffel tower and a mini-globe, I think it was.
This shouldn't be too difficult to do yourself and you could personalise it for your new wife! I'm sure she'd be chuffed you made an effort.
...Alternatively, Paperchase (are they online?) have a new travel range out, though they do seem to be quite young designs.I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
going to attempt another scrapbook but it will have to be quite large so i can see myself maybe making it from scratch somehow. i have lots of school photographs of my girls and just not enough space to put them all plus i like to take down the older ones each year and replace with more recent ones. i thought it would be nice to maybe do one scrapbook to 2 one each for both with all their pics in and their class photos and go from there, not really sure what to do, any advice from anyone ?:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I got a ready made scrapbook from Clinton's in their sale called 'My School Days' and it is to record School days Memorabilia from Nursery to Year 11! On each page they have a space for a school photo and a class photo (you would have to shrink them down if they were big) and all sorts of questions to fill in for each year. Questions like: Best thing this year, Friends, what are your favourite tv programmes, best toy, what I like to do out of school, any awards/certificates, name of teacher... What a nice idea to track the changes and I thought I'd use it as a prompt for a scrapbook I will do for my two children. Wish I'd seen it when they just started school though. (Mine are in Yr3 and Y5) You may still be able to get this book in Clintons?I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Some more ideas came to me - you could add school reports - or bits of them scanned maybe? Also you could include photos of their work or drawings (or the real pages) showing what their writing & drawing is like and what they've been learning about at this stage. Another idea, put pictures of places they've been on school trips... (mind is going on overdrive!
)

Miles - what a super idea..........:T Should be easy to start off and embellishments can be added in the form of little souveniers when you get there (tickets and stuff like that). Good luck :j
Just back from holiday so once I've got washing sorted and put back where it came from I'll have to get my scrapbooks out and see where I've got to. Second one really only needs to be the same as the first I think but with extras added to sons pages depending which son its for.
Monday I must get down town and get some photocopying done so at least I can get that side of it sorted out.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
