Kacy _ i think your pages are lovely all I would say is maybe think about adding some journalling . Think who, what, where ,when , and why . the who what where and when cover the basics but the why delves deeper and can help make your journalling more meaningful.

and mary your not alone - some of the best scrapbooks take hours if not days on a single lo these things can't be rushed - as long as you are enjoying it it doesn't matter how long it takes.

Want to do sort of journal page about what ancestors did for work...........gt.grandad was a shoemaker as were the rest of the family but he worked from home initially.......I've got some details from a history site about my home town so no problem there...........am having slight panic though about getting four done by christmas

Done another 3 pages of my scrapbook............haven't added any embellishments yet...........does it always take this long ? Thats 3 pages in 2 days  I'm getting worried I won't get two of them done in time for Christmas.............or is it me ? Maybe once I've sussed out the layout really all I've got to do is repeat it for the other one I suppose.

Mary, it takes me ages to do my pages. I spend most of the time just coming up with an idea. And even when I've got the idea it still takes hours. I've only done 2 12x12 pages in March! I'm now 4 pages behind (aiming to do the 4 document 2010 pages and 2 wedding album pages per month). Still I'll have a bit of time over Easter hopefully to catch up.

    Hi Everyone

I haven't read through all of the posts, but will do at some point as I am now on Maternity Leave and have nothing planned until the baby arrives :D

I wanted to make a scrapbook of my pregnancy, it's ups and downs, something to remember it by. Had a look in hobby craft today, and was surprised to see that the scrap books were £15-20  - is that the normal cost? Page re-fills were then about £7 if I remember rightly, and the other bits and pieces were super expensive. Unfortunately for me, my company only pay SMP  and I therefore don't have a lot of cash around.

Can anyone recommend where I can buy the bits and pieces I need to get started relatively cheaply? Thanks in advance

helpinghubby - reassuring to know its not just me that takes and age to to this. Printers now run out of ink (doesn't seem that long since I bought some and its not cheap ) Just worked out I'll have about 9 more pages to go to complete one family tree scrapbook...........phew !!

Couple of questions - Is there a limit to how many pages you can put in a scrapbook before its 'over-full' ?
And where the cheapest place to get the refills from ?

jemw - know what you mean about 'cash flow' - OH off work so I'm trying to work to a budget and its not easy

jemw - yeah, most scrapbooks from craft shops and online are about that price you mentioned. You can get cheaper ones sometimes from independent stationers (I got one once for £9.99 complete with papers and embellishments). Another place I have seen them cheaper is 'The Works', they usually have a few in for around £6. HTH

mary - you can tell if your book is overfilled by whether it closes OK. Embellishments that are bulky make it more difficult to close. Also not all refills fit all books, you may need a specific type for your scrapbook. Melissa (also on the cardmaking thread) is our expert on the best prices for things! :D

qwiksave -thanks. Best watch out what embellishments I put on. I'd seen somewhere about the size of the refills.........might be best if I try out craft shop first.

    Can't believe it - I';ve nearly done one scrapbook..............:j:j:j
Can't think of what else to add to it really as its a sort of family tree one..........I've covered everyone in the family plus grandparents etc.
Think for the next one I'll have some of the photos copied at the copy-shop..............sure it'll work out cheaper, specially for the old black and white ones, than running out of ink again.
