I cook it without a recipe. I make a basic bolognese or use leftover bolognese. Then I make a fairly thick cheese sauce (Im not very good at quantities). I make a roux with flour and margarine then gradually add milk stirring constantly, I grate a fairly large amount of cheese and add two thirds of it to the sauce. I then par boil 9 sheets of lasagne for about 5 mins till theyre partly cooked. I then put half the bolognese sauce in the bottom of the lasagne dish then layer on three sheets of lasagne, this covers my dish completely but you may need to use more or less. I then put on a layer of half the cheese sauce and then 3 more lasagne sheets. I then layer the rest of the bolognese sauce, one more layer of lasagne sheets then finish off with the rest of the cheese sauce. I sprinkle the remainder of the grated cheese and bake in the oven at 200C for half an hour. It always turns out delicious and is cheap to make. I hope this helps. We serve it with a green salad and home made vinaigrette dressing.

Its difficult to give quantities because everyone has a different size dish. You need enough sauce to produce two layers of each and enough lasagne to produce three layers that cover the area of your dish.

I'm not sure yet - I'll have to dig one out in the morning!

Will report back bright and early when I've found one!

  • One thing I do with bolognese and lasagne. Add finely grated carrot whilst cooking the meat sauce. It makes it go further and the sauce is not so heavy.

PLUS it gets the addedd veggies into the diet.

Just add as much as you want to. My lot prefer it made this way.

Strange bunch my kids, the do love their veggies.:D

    OK here`s mine........
I currently use my oil mister rather than oil as I`m trying to lose weight so mist the pan with oil or use sunflower/olive oil.
I use a pack of low fat mince - roughly about 500 g(10% fat) which I brown well adding a dollop of Worcester sauce(2 tbls) fresh black pepper and salt. I add finely chopped onion( ok I cheat cos I hate chopping onions) but it would be about 1 large onion. Mix in well - you can add a teaspoon of pesto which improves the flavour and a crushed garlic clove. This will take about ten minutes.

Then a tin of chopped tomatoes and continue to stir. If you feel the mixture looks a bit dry- add a little water from the kettle or some leftover wine( about a glassful.

Put in a large dish say like a Pyrex or long rectangular dish which you have greased which helps with the washing up.

For the sauce, melt about 1 oz marg in a saucepan. Once melted add a tablespoon of flour and mix until you have a `paste` Then add a pint of hot milk.( if you have a microwave, warm it in there) I pour the milk into the pan over the sink because I`m a mucky pup and it saves on milk landing on the hob. Whisk with a small wire whisk and it will gradually thicken. You can add some grated cheese too which is yummy and some seasoning.

Buy ready cooked dry pasta so you can place it on top of the mince with some sauce on top. If you want and your dish is big, then you can layer it so you have mince/lasagne/ sauce until the dish is filled.

Hope this helps - feel free to PM me if my description is cr*p!

I would place this on a baking dish to avoid spills and cook for 35-40 minutes on Gas 4/5 or 180degF

a small glass of red wine added to the meat sauce tenderises the mince and adds a delicious flavour too, add it after putting in onions ect but before any liquid is added and reduce other liquid accordingly.
