Make sure you drain off the fat from the mince when browning it, it definitely helps the flavour!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Hi Skint_Catt,
I hope it works well. Now that you've made yours I've merged your thread with another one on making lasagne to keep all the replies together.

Ah sorry pink-winged - I did do a chat forum search but nothing came up!
Well, it was a HUGE success - everyone ate it and it turned out looking like lasagne.
Thanks again to everyone!

I can recommend one not to try, Gary Rhodes..
His lasagne is lovely, but firstly the mince needs to be browned off, then you add a pint of wine, and cook down until the liquid has all gone, then you add a pint of milk and cook that down until all the liquid is gone. This takes about two hours, but the flavour is delicious. (Not necessarily worth the extra cost of ingredients though I don't think);)I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -

Hummm I made one recently using wine. I only used about a glass or so, and although it smelt fantastic, I thought it gave an overpowering taste. Maybe the milk helps with that? Next time I'll just use a couple of splashes I think.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Last lasagne I made I used Tesco's passata with basil in the bolognese sauce and it turned out absolutely delicious. Made a big difference to the flavour. It tasted very Italian. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

My tips would be:
- Add teaspoon of brown or normal sugal
- Add squirt of ketchup
- Add splash of wine
I find these always make bolognaise / chilli or lasagne taste amazing.
If you have leftover wine one night that won't keep until your next spag bol/ lasange etc - simply freeze it in an ice cube tray - then pop an ice cube or two into the sauce in the pan next time you are cooking. I learnt this on MSE and it's been great! If I could get round do it, I would chop garlic in advance and pop them into ice cube trays too - very organised and would be so useful!MFW #185

Hi
When I usually(rarely) make lasagne I tend to only put the mince and the sauce in it.
can you put veg in it?
What does everyone else put in??Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0
