Who's going to YORK? Old Style gathering: Poll
Comments
-
Hi All
The date : Friday 11th/Saturday 12th March
The Place : Micklegate Hostel, York
The Time : Well.......when we can all get there?
The original plan was to block book hostel accomodation for the night & have a home cooked meal using the hostel facilities. However, as there are so few of us who will actually be staying at the hostel (3 to date) and about the same number again arranging their own accomodation I can't imagine the hostel is going to be too chuffed if we invite lots of guests to use their facilities. We may need to re-think this part of the plan? What does everyone else think?
Cheers

I don't quite get it because either LOADS of MSE folk live around York and are staying with relatives ???
(yeah right), or if not why won't they come and stay with us all together? I have a wash every day, and Im fairly easy to get on with ;D Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I'm quite happy to go along with whatever plan. I've sent a cheque but i also live close enough to travel home if they're not enough people wishing to stay.0

I think it is time to contact the hostel and ask about bookings and whether it would be possible to have a few residents cook for a group of friends (explaining that it is a gathering, maybe) - if the hostel has a bar they might be interested in the custom, who knows. If they say no then we can always change plan.
I shall start looking into cheap travel from London soon!

British rail were offerring a return fare York to London for £15. I think it was a day return but it might be as cheap to buy 2 returns?"This site is addictive!"

It's normally about £20 return if you book about a month in advance, and you don't even have to change train!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

So far I have received cheques from Caterina, Ssaver & ...er...Nicola L who's screen name I can't remember (Oops). Fran says hers will be with me by next week. I ahven't really kept track of who plans on joining us but won't need accomodation as it changes so often. I don; tthink we are going to qualify for any kind of group discount as there just won't be enough of us staying.
I would like to be in a position to make the bookign at the end of next week so will need to bank the cheques on monday. Any one else planning on comming, please can you get your cheques to me ASAP?
Caterina : Prehaps as you made inital contact with the hostel you could confrim with them regarding extra dinner guests & if they still have space available for the 5 overnighters?

Lillibet I can do that no prob - shall wait until after the weekend to find out if you had any more cheques and will wait for you to give me definite numbers by, say, tuesday evening?
Then we can make the firm booking and take it from there, sounds ok by you?

Hi Again All
I have not received any more cheques, I am still holding 4 (now, where did I put them for safe keeping??) Can we confirm we are happy to go ahead with only this many people? At this stage I am unable to commit as I seem to have developed appaling travel sickness since becomming pregnant and can't say if I will be able to get there in one peice, although I am hoping. I am happy to make the booking if everyone else is sure they want to go ahead?
Cheers
