I am going to buy some ginger today to try and ease their coughs, my eldest has had hers for weeks now.

What do you do with the ginger, moggins?

So much for getting up early - OH turned the alarm clock off this morning as he thought he was awake enough to get up - so that 'we'll get up by 8am' didn't happen - more like 9.30 - and so while he's been showering and dressing I'm still in bed with laptop catching up on here ;) .

Plans for today - need to package up some things I need to post in a minute after shower etc, porridge for brekkie then need to be out by about 11.15 to get to the post office before I do my campus tour today - hoping they'll ask me to stay on a bit in the afternoon but no phone call yet :(

If they don't will come back and try and crack the dirty washing mountain also need to start on my wedding invitations as parents are coming up this weekend and will want to see my prototype. Vicky that's great about your dress - haven't decided what sort of thing I want yet or when I'm going to get it (wedding is next July  )

Dinner tonight is Chicken in the slow cooker with swede, carrot and potato mash (feeling brave) so need to get that on soon too.

Right better get up otherwise OH will come in and start tutting

    Have a good day

Please forgive my ignorance, is that grated ginger mixed with boiling water then strained? I've never made it before.

Well Im venturing out today  taking DD with OH to see Nanny Mecphee-going in me wheelchair but at least I'll be out-going stir crazy indoors. Even if it kills me Im gonna enjoy meself with me DD :D Im really looking forward to it. I have a cinema card being disabled and a person can go in free with me, so we only have to pay for 1 adult and 1 child (£9) OH got some pick n mix to take in and I'll grab a bottle of drink before we go in but DD will want her popcorn..lol.

Penny-Pincher, as we've recently established that you live really near me, are you talking about Bexleyheath cinema? If so, it's Tuesday so you should find that all tickets are on sale at £3.80 - so one adult and one child would only come to £7.60. Thinking of heading off there this evening myself to see Corpse Bride...

Am at work putting stuff off (I hate my job at the moment, and my boss (the main reason for me hating my job) is just back from holiday - boo!) and looking forward to my yummy HM casserole and rice for lunch!

Will be doing pasta with butterbeans when I get home from the cinema, and have just worked out that I don't think I need to spend anything on groceries AT ALL this week, besides perhaps some bananas (and of course anything useful and hugely reduced which I happen to come across!). God bless the storecupboard challenge!

OKay own up - who kicked me up the bottom to encourage me to get on with things? :rotfl:

    - Dishes washed except for 2 pans & a jar that are soaking, a storage jar and the grill pan  :D
    - Bedrooms are back in order - DD's bed still needs to be made but I haven't got a dry/clean sheet for it yet (she wet the bed on Thursday for the first time in MONTHS :( )
    - I'm washed and dressed ready to go out
    - WM has just finished a wool wash and they're now ready to dry - once the teatowels are dry enough to come off the maiden

Just sitting down to 2 slices of toast (very hungry today - must have been the lack of proper meals yesterday), a slice of stollen and a mug of something  I'm also going to be printing out labels for my ebay parcels which I'll post soon!

 What is up with me today?

    hello :j

Wonderful - I got a lie in today. But then I was decorating until gone 11pm last night! My back's aching now, cos did 3 loads of washing, went to DIY shop, sanded washed and undercoated paintwork in kitchen, sugar-soaped walls and ceiling and painted ceiling too. Also did normal 'wifey' things like get up with boys, breakfasted and dressed them, some cleaning, DW on, BM on etc. Mr TM tidied for 1 hour (with a face like a slapped backside) then went to the chippy:D I suppose doing the kitchen is a good excuse for it to be out of action. :)

Anyway - I've had my brekkie and shower but not dressed yet. About to do so and go to mum's to do her cleaning and shopping. Then later I will be glossing the woodwork and may have a go at some emulsioning.

Queenie - the reason the kitchen and hall will 'flow' into each other is purely money-saving :D Always remember - as I didn't  - to add the coloured paint to the white paint if you are mixing your own as colour goes a long way. I ended up with 40L of pale yellow paint when I needed about 15 :D  Still, it won't go to waste :)

Anyway - glad there has been good news from Mexico and those who are ill are either on the mend of getting well looked after.

re Ancasta - I've wondered where she is too. I think I pm'd her recently (or was I going to and forgot  - mind like a sieve) She has been online recently but just not posted. Ancasta - come home girl :D

OK, hugs to all, whether you want them or not :D

Right, can someone give me a kick too as I need to get on with some jobs? I might consign the kids upstairs so I can get downstairs cleaned too.

  • Hi All :hello:
Its lovely to be able to post instead of reading the thread at work whilst looking like I'm working! :shhh:
PP - I hope you enjoy Nanny McPhee, its a great film, we all really enjoyed it.
YorkieLass - I'm glad it's not just my OH who tuts whenever he walks ito the room and I'm on the computer! (He's never happy unless I've got a broom in one hand and a washing up cloth in the other! :p )
Queenie - Fancy doing housework at that time of the night/morning! I hope your family appreciate all your efforts.

Today has not got off to a good start, I was ironing until 11.30, went to bed late and overslept this morning, so lots of rushing around to get DD's ready for grandad who came to pick them up at ten. Despite me asking them to get the things ready they wanted to take and decided what they wanted to wear of course, they didnt  .

Anyway, house looks like a bomb has just dropped on it. The washing basket is overflowing, no beds are made, the dishwasher needs emptying and breakfast crocks are piled up, guinea pigs need feeding, theres a load of sheets washed in the machine waiting to go in the TD and the TD needs emptying. _pale_
Aside from all this, I wanted to defrost both freezers, clean windows (the neighbours must think Im mad - I dont get much chance to clean the windows outside, so I tend to do it if it needs doing even when its raining. Im usually to be found up a ladder in me cagoule, bucket of water and vinegar in me hand!) I've got loads of ebay photos to take, nets to wash and I really wanted to make some cakes,
Rich jam tarts, bakewell slices, and chocolate chip cookies and a bag of crumble (mixed with some choc chips) for the freezer. (Relevant pages marked in the bero book)
DD's wont be back until around 5pm, OH is off out tonight for a curry with friends, so I need to make best use of the day as its the only day I have in for the rest of the week.
I'm off to make a start......... (need a "pulls on rubber gloves grimly" smilie)
