Penny-Pincher, as we've recently established that you live really near me, are you talking about Bexleyheath cinema? If so, it's Tuesday so you should find that all tickets are on sale at £3.80 - so one adult and one child would only come to £7.60. Thinking of heading off there this evening myself to see Corpse Bride...

A friend of mine works at B/Heath Cinema so I get in for the best price ;) :shhh: Her boss complains if I don't buy any food though!

Have discovered that Rent - The Musical has been made into a film, and will be released here Feb 25th 2006. That will save me a trip to New York to see it....

Have made my first christmas cake this week. Am too scared to keep it in cupboard in case my brother comes home drunk and eats it, so it's gone in the freezer.

Am currently drinking Green and Black's hot chocolate, with a drop of Cointreu....

Had a mad day - lots of kids on a *high*, toys to tidy up (again & again), however, the good thing is that both kids are fast asleep now!!!:shhh: My friend came to ours with her DD then, after lunch (due to both kids having attack of the sillies) we went to Wacky Warehouse!! After they'd gone home, my sister came round with her 2 and the madness began again!!!!! Oh the joys of school holidays:rolleyes:

Have some ironing to do in a bit - although now I've got into a routine with it, the pile doesn't get TOO high and feels more manageable!!

One more load to go in the washing machine tonight.

DW to be loaded and put on (if full!)

Going to try & have an early night, in an attempt to catch up on lost sleep from last night - why do I KNOW that it won't work out that way?

Queenie, how on earth do you do it? Up til all hours doing housework etc & still being so cheery & OS during the day? Can I have some of your energy please???

Hope you all have a good evening!

  • Hello all, you seem to have had very productive days :D

I've been skiving off all day - took the kids to see Wallace and Grommit, very funny but it made for an expensive day.

Trying to make up for it tomorrow - we plan to pack shoeboxes for a Bulgarian Orphanage in the morning and make Christmas Cakes and puddings for prezzie hampers in the afternoon. Off to put on the BM, WM and DW, see you in the morning :p

  • Well today was very busy. After drying out I stayed at work till 5pm seeing project students and refusing to do their work for them :P

In thegaps between students I won 5 yards of black silk from eBay quite cheaply (i don't think the seller had listed it in the right place) - will have to get some thinner needles for my sewing machine.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • Hello

I've been reading the OS boards for a while now (mainly all the indexed stuff) and have just registered to post and am joining in the November Grocery Challenge. Thought I'd post here to introduce myself as this seems to be where you all socialise!

Anyway, I'm a stay at home mum of 5 kids (three boys, two girls) who are aged between 12 and 5 weeks. I love reading all the OS tips as they remind me of my Nan, who taught me lots of money saving things when she was alive. The oatmeal soap thread in particular, as she taught me to make this when I was a young girl.

Well, looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning about more money saving ideas.

Good news Scuzz. You must be so releived.

Had a cold start here this morning. The first real snow, so winters really started.

Got to go shopping at the weekend for warm hats, and some good grip shoes before it really sets in.

Seems to be a late start on the daily thread this morning, or is it just 'Wednesdays'?

    Morning :j

Blimey - deffo a late start today. Where is everyone?

I've been awake since 5.30 but apart from playing with boys and getting brekkie,I haven't yet done anything.

I glossed the kitchen last night so will be emulsioning the walls later. Need Mr TM to help me move the fridge as it's one of those tall larder fridges which is both fastened to the wall and stuck in a corner - so I've never moved it yet. Will also emulsion hall/stairs while I'm at it. However, need to go to DIY store first - have no turps left, or can't find it since Mr TM 'tidied' garage, which means my gloss brushes are wrapped in cling film, waiting to be cleaned!

Will be putting a shoulder of lamb in the SC later. Next time, I'll get butcher to halve it - I've obviously only bought about 1/3rd of a shoulder before which was just a bit small. WM, TD and BM need to go on today too and I need to vax some carpets - DS2 had another 'accident' yesterday and DS1 dropped toothpaste all over the red landing carpet!! (He tells me it just squirted there when he was in the bathroom)

Glad your sis and BIL are OK scuzz.

Right now, need to go and sort out the bl00dy symantec pop up telling me something I already know - it pops up EVERY 30 seconds and I can't get it to stop  It's made this post very difficult to type.

Hope you all have a good day

I agree, the thread is v. late starting today (perhaps the others are having a lie in - lucky them!!)

Am planning to do some baking with the kids today. This is not something I normally do (they usually bake cakes with my mom;) ) but this os way is rubbing off on me!!

Up to date with ironing, only 1 load of washing to do today!

Weather looks ok (ish) so may take kids out for a walk later.

Still need to do some cleaning, but thought I might rope the kids in to help (they love dusting & 5 year old is v. good with a vacuum!!)

Don't know whether I'll manage to achieve all of this today - but will give it a go!

Hope everyone has a great day, whatever you're up to!!
