Scuzz, I hope there is good news for you.

I have just been out in the garden and spotted loads of carrot tops in my very neglected vegetable patch. I have just dug up a good 2 pounds of baby carrots :D I know what we are having with the pot roast beef tonight :D

Morning all! Up early and refused to turn the computer on!

Lasted till 10am! And the amount of posts already! Its taken me 10mins to read through them all!

Woke up to fresh bread and fresh coffee (found an old timer for the coffee machine!!!)

Its total clean up day today - although I don't know why I bother - the kids are back tomorrow and it will be back to square one.....
Mind you, I refuse to do their room. I've taken out the dirty clothes, opened the window and put in some air freshner and thats all they are getting out of me!

Lunch today is pork chops. MIL phoned and invited us round for lunch. It might be a free lunch, but now I make my own, her Aunt Bessies and bad meat is not a free offering I want to take any more! :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good day

Sounds like a meal at my MIL's :D

I am sooooo not going to tell her about this site. If she ever reads this, I am in deep doodoo :D She has her own ways of money-saving....when she visits, we buy everything (naturally), when we visit her, WE buy everything

Only just got showered and dressed - well, just went back to bed and have spent a lovely 2 hours watching Delia and Jamie and playing with DS2. Much more fun than housework, which I expect is still waiting for me downstairs. I really must invest in some housework and laundry fairies. After all, most men seem to think we have them anyway.:rotfl:

Oh, and must look for cheap keyboard - this one is really playing up now and it's fairly new

Oh, and cheers for the Boots tip. I hardly ever read the shopping boards now cos I used to spend lots when I did :D

We're a keyboard short in this house :D We have to keep moving one around whenever we need it. That's what comes of having 4 computers and only 3 keyboards :D I must pop into cash converters when DH gets paid next week and buy one of their £4.99 specials.

  • We got out kitty yesterday! I didn't get a chance to post last night so I thought I would put a piccy of her on todays instead.

    a536006d.jpg

She looks a bit scared in this picture but she is more relaxed now and settleing in nicley. She is exploring the study as I type!

We havn't decided if we are going to leave her at home and go out today or if we are going to stay in. Was planning on a few hours walk by the sea but will have to wait and see how she is.

Its not very OS getting a kitty I can tell you, I think we spent a small fourtune on her yesterday. Well mum bought me the cat carrier so that saved me £15.99 and she bought me a nice book about how to look after kittens. Luckily we can use the RSPCA vets for free so that will help lots when it comes to having her spade and vaccinated.

It is so nice having a little one to keep me company, she will be great to have around when I am feeling down and under the weather and I have plenty of time to play with her as I am on reduced hours at the moment.

I gotto go rescue my dads shirt from her now, have a good day all.
  • morning all (only just)

scaz I prey it will be good news about your sister and hope she calls soon hugs.
purple girl your kitty is so sweet.

well Did a little house work yesterday, but still lots to do dd1 is at my mums dd2 is watching robots , baby is asleep and jon has gone to football, why does he have to spend his sundays at bl***y football and then the pub so I probably wont see him til 4 this afternoon  again!
Are supposed to be going up north next weekend to show off baby , but I don't think Jon has phoned his dad or grandad to let them know.
Will phone my nan later to see how she is as she hasn't been very well of late, but she wont tell me whats wrong.. typical nan has to be a super woman, might phone my auntie berol and see if she can shed any light on the situation.

Purplegirluk1 - awwwwwww, bless! So cute!! I love kitties, they are so much fun! If she likes dry food - Morrisons have got a 3 for 2 offer on their go-cat stuff, my cat is drooling as we speak because she has 5 boxes, and is rubbing herself up against them!

Just been to Lidl and Morrisons, and spent £58, although I did a lot of bulk buying and condiment type things (moved house recently so had to buy a load of new stuff, like soy sauce, garlic puree and what not), and I ended up buying a frozen chicken, frozen lamb leg steaks, chicken kievs, salmon en croute, plain salmon, mince beef, chicken breasts etc etc, so there is quite a lot to get through...

Does anyone else think that lidl isnt that cheap anymore?? I bought some juices etc and they were more expensive than morrisons!! Some things were cheaper, but not much. I think I need to spend a day comparing prices and see where is cheapest overall and do the main shop there. Fruit and veg was cheapest at lidl's though, but I only like the cauli, broccoli, leeks and pot's from there. Oh well - time to make a meal planner and a bacon sarnie for lazy bones who has only just woken up, and I still have half the shopping in the car....

well after my winge yesterday I am feeling a litle perkier this morning.... and... the sun is shining.... have the sheets on the line and DH is washing the car...........

OS day today, needed to clean the living room, the dust on the TV beggered belief and the floor had rolls of dust on it...............roast chicken for supper, chocolate fluff for afters.........also need to bake a cake of some description.

Hols for next year under discussion..... caravan trip to friends in the Pyrennes, we have to pay for the ferry, fuel and road tolls but with 7 camping cheques we should be able to have 3 weeks away for less than £600............so once we get back from our house sitting at Christmas I will be having a boot sale/ebay sort out to raise some cash, just hope the car does not cost me like it did this year, at least I know it will not need new tyres at £70 each nor a new clutch at £400. Our friends are converting a water mill and have a large plot of land, so camping is free..........and the company great............

Have a good day, I am off to have smoked salmon and salad for lunch (ok salmon bought in France, half the price we pay for it here) have had it in the freezer since we got back from our last trip.

Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

    Total so far £14.00!!

Jo - I agree about Lidl's. Some of the stuff is more expensive. Eg their 1L apple juice is 43p whereas in Tesco it's down to 33 or 35p. Their OB weetabix is the same price as Tesco OB. I think it's more a case of the giants using loss leaders to try and persuade people that they are as cheap as Lidl's etc.

I tend only to use Tesco for the stuff I know is cheapest ie 1L apple and orange juice or for stuff I can't get at Alsi/Lidl.

I think in the last 6 months I have only done a 'complete shop' at Tesco once, ie fruit and veg, dairy, deli as well as the store cupboard stuff and that was due to family problems recently, as I didn't have time. Still didn't buy my meat there though. :)
