I don't normally post on this thread but today I have been getting OS...I got some reduced brisket in Tesco, made a lovely casserole with the remains of last weeks veg, which went down very well. No leftovers! Also OH decided in Tesco that we should dig out the BM which has been stashed in a cupboard in the utility room for 18 months since we had the kitchen refitted. I was surprised to see all the flour that was marked up as suitable for use in a BM at Tesco, when I first got it it was hard to know what to use. We had already bought a large wholemeal loaf from the local baker so it will be later in the week before we make our own. I have been reading the BM thread..0

Hello again
Well, I've ordered a whole lamb off the butcher today - he wasn't the cheapest, but he's still only charging £1.55 per lb and his meat is superbI'll pick it up on Tuesday, freshly butchered and packed to my requirements. I know what they mean by butchering as you want now ie whole legs, ribs boned and rolled, whole shoulders, etc. Can't wait as lamb is our fave.
Went into Booths today to get a few bits for mum and they had a taster-table of some pork pies. Normally I don't buy them but these ones had toppings on - rhubarb was one. Absolutely scrummy and I may treat myself to one at Xmas. They did lots of other flavours too (didn't like the scrumpy one and I don't like sage and onion anyway) So, got 3 lovely chunks of pie just at noon
Photographed lots of things for eBay, although some of the items aren't going for as much as I'd like yet, so will hold off on those for now. Have done lots of book reading with DS2 - he's coming on so well with both his reading and speech. I've done lots of washing - one of which was on the line but I got engrossed in the Google Earth thread and missed the rain  Well, it won't get any wetter now, will itAm going to iron my bedding tonight. Don't usually do it, but it's a bit damp so that will help and I can air it on the rads for an hour or so too.
So, DS2 in bed - must have been tired cos he's gone straight off, despite having 1 1/2 hrs this afternoon. DS1 tells me it's raining where thay are - surprisinglySo, after the ironing, I'm going to list a few items on ebay, then maybe chill and watch a film or see what's on telly - which reminds me, it's 'afterlife' tonight.
Have a good evening

ahm, sorry to hear about your family in NZ not being well.
Hope you have had a look at the International Call Checker here for cheap rates to call NZ. I use www.call18185.co.uk myself to call NZ at 1/2p a minute with 5p connection charge. At that rate you can chat for an hour at less than the price of a cup of tea out.0 -
Hi ahmilligan,
Sorry to hear about your Nan. Don't beat yourself up about moving away, we can't build our lives around what might happen in the future.
Enjoy your bath tomorrow. I had one of those days today.....left Mr Pink in charge and retired to the bath with a good book........it was sheer bliss.

Knowing we all have the same mundane chores to do somehow makes doing mine a bit easier
Bit of bad news just hit me from NZ though, my Nan has bowel cancer,a 4inch by 3in tumour. So thats made me feel rubbish for choosing to moive so far away from home. She is going for a six week chemo session before surgery so to cheer her up I am going to do a big scrapbook filled woth photos of us and the kids. Some of the kids pictures and hand/footprints etc.
OH has taken Monday off work (cause he has been away on business all week and we havent seen him) so I am going to pop into our craft shop to pick up some nice bits to decorate it with. Thought it might be something to keep focussed on when she is feeling rough.
OH is due back in about 2 hours depending on the traffic from York and the house looks like a bombs hit, am going to have to do a frantic half hour scramble to clean the worst of it.
I am SO looking forward to a long hot bath tomorrow, my reward for a week alone with sprogs 1, 2 & 3.
And then theres half term to look forward to - ARGH.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone,
Al.
Al - I am so sorry to read about your Nan's bad news - the scrapbook idea is a wonderful on and I have no doubt it will completely shorten the "distance" the miles may appear to be a barrier to. It will give her the focus she will need to draw upon her inner strength as she faces the challenges ahead. ((hugs))
My greatest escape is to relax in a hot bath ... add a few lavender oil drops if you have them to enhance it's relaxing powers and ease the stress you have been enduring these past few days. Don't wait until tomorrow ... run a bath for when OH gets home in a wee while ... jump in with/after him!
