CQ and Jo - I was also under the impression the clocks went back on 30th Oct. I hope so as that's the day I'm doing my boot sale and I'm hoping for that extra hour in bed0

I have just checked the diary and British Summertime ends on 30 th October."This site is addictive!"

definitely 30 October. And the saying is 'Spring forward and Autumn back' for the clocks.
.
So we get an extra hour end of month.0 -

I find it easier if you think of it the American way of 'Spring Forward and Fall Back' - just got to remember that they refer to Autumn as Fall (wierdos that they are)
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -

Thanks everyone, I thought Queenie must be right as that's what I'd had in my head anyway before hearing the radio programme, as it's usually the last Sunday on October! Wonder how many others heard that and will be changing their clocks this weekend then :rotfl:
Funny cos DS asked me the same thing this morning and I told him it's this weekend "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I'd love to know what the dishes are *hint hint*
afternoon everyone.
Had a very, very slow couple of weeks. I've been up to my eyeballs in revision and exams so my OS has almost stopped. Having said that we've been eating HM meals out the freezer so we haven't totally let it slip!
Last exam was supposed to be this afternoon but since i've been in bed with some sort of bug all week, i've deferred my exam until the middle of november. it's great that i could defer but also a pain as i was looking forward to getting it all finished, a week off full of OSing and then on to the next course. Now it looks like it'll all over-lap and i'll never really get a break
*sigh* oh well. I'm sure i'll get the garden jobs done sometime.....0 -
And I must remember to invest in some cycle lamps this week as DS will now be heading off to school in the dark
With all the expenses we have had this month I am totally skint so am trying to get through the last week (which unfortunately is half term) without spending any money on groceries.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Freezer currently contains six Sainsburys Taste the Difference pork sausages bought for 20p on reduced to clear last week, so am off to buy some veg in order to make a lovely sausage casserole for the weekend. It will probably have to be done tonight in a stewpot rather than tomorrow in a slow cooker, cos I forgot to defrost the ingredients of the thing I was going to cook this evening  AND tomorrow's main meal will be lunch cos I'll be out from 1 or 2pm until late, so won't have time for the slow cooker.
Recently I've been contemplating quitting work as my job (and more specifically my boss) have become a nightmare and I was on the point of going to the doctor asking for happy pills or, preferably, a sick note. Anyway, things are looking up - she's been out of the office today and HER boss has come up to me saying we should have a chat about how things have been going, and he apologised for how the atmosphere has been lately! So I can go home and enjoy the weekend knowing that I've got powerful people on my side :T
The downside of course is that if I'm not about to resign, I won't get a couple of months of proper OS-living and relative leisure while looking for a new job
Am treating myself this weekend, going to the opera on a £35 ticket (usually go for £15 standing room but am sitting down for this as it's a VERY long show, hence being out all afternoon and evening and not being able to slow cook my casserole).Operation Get in Shape

Just got back from a nightmare shopping trip to tescos, normally go about 8pm on a Friday but thought I'd do it this afternoon as we're getting the 7.44am train to Birmingham tomorrow so don't want to be out half the night shopping. Anyway total nightmare really really busy, full of dithers whereas I was there with my list which I did on the computer today so I could put all the stuff in the right order for the shop
Anyway did pretty well, especially with multibuys and coupons (will have to update my sig in a minute - think I saved about £15, and got about 150 clubcard points (ended up paying £36) but I got loads of vegetables to put my plans into action and some household stuff too and also a value fleece for me to wear around the flat so we don't have to put the heating on (£4) so I'm very pleased :j
Need to go out again in a minute as my Grandads in hospital so got him a card in tescos and want to get it in the post today so hopefully he'll get it tomorrow.
Anyway better get on, card, finishing washing up/putting away and fairy cakes are the top priority for the next hour or so.

Well, both DS and I are very disappointed as his cookery teacher decided to go off sick this afternoon, so he never got to make his cheese & potato pie
(certainly makes you wonder with it being the last day of term! )
Anyway, all might not be lost yet (apart from me having to cook after all that is  ) as I've just knocked up AussieLass's Impossible Quiche so the ingredients he brought back from school don't go to waste!
Will let you know how it turns out!
