Morning all
my first time posting on this particular thread so i hope it is ok to just join in.
im feeling pretty good about the start to my day - made a dozen cup cakes for my dad, have also baked a country apple and mince meat tart. The chicken ( coke and ketchup recipe ) is in the slow cooker for tonight AND the ironing is done.
I have to go and pack my bags now as i am off on a trip tomorrow, then it will be time for a nice bath and a long read ... ( reading about buddhism - if anyone here is a buddhist would you be kind enough to pm me? thanks! )
i hope everyone has a great day - my total spend today will be zero £ !!0 -
morning all!
been to tescos this morning, used some coupons and it came to £6.34. im taking on my friends two dogs this week, she doesnt have time to care for them properly, walk them, (or afford them) and at 8 and 14 i thought it was unfair for them to go to a rescue home as the chances of rehoming them would be slim. so i am now proud owner of two yorkshire terriers called charlie and sam!!! together with 4 kids and 3 chickens its a busy household :rotfl: bought them new collars and lead and a new food bowl and im really looking forward to going on walks!!!
bit of housework to do today and some ironing and WM is on with load no2 of today!
hope everyone has a great day!November NSD's - 70 -
Wow you guys always inspire me with your busyness and great organisation.
I have managed a load of washing and 2 drying. Done school run, dropped off borrowed steamer and given friend some childcare books (mine both at school so no need for the potty training etc ones!). Was good (for a change) and did a meal plan and have been to Sainsburys and bought what I needed plus a few reduced goodies to go in freezer.
Now having coffee and treated myself to an almond croissant then off to son's school to help with dinnertime. I love it as the kids ask so many funny things and say such funny things I spend all afternoon laughing!!
Hope everyone has a great day, I might wrap some more Christmas pressies, actually gave out my first 2 at the weekend!!
Hugs

Back for a browse.
well done for taking on the dogs, you sound like me I can't bear to see animals sent to rescue centres and have recently adopted a guinea pig and rabbit, from friends although the raebbit didn't survive, sadly.
I have just realised, from browsing another thread about spindryers, that I had an old and unused one in my shed. As it's now officially tumble dryer season, I thought I'd see if this would help reduce drying times. Having just spun a total of 6 towels and removed half a pint of water:eek: from them further to the spin in the washing machine, I can see this new 'gadget' getting plenty of use. Should reduce my electric costs no end this winter, as I have really limited drying space, and rely a little too much on the tumbler.
I now feel in the mood for a little baking so shall dissapear off to the recipe thread to get some inspiration, oh and I may just mix up my christmas pudding mix ready to steam tommorrow........................
I feel another coffee coming on .........................................;)0 -
Morning all
Freezing here today - the temps dropped by 10degrees from yesterday....brrrrrr.
Took 5 to school - ended up with another 2 on the way and only managed to bring back one! She's currently asleep after a busy morning with the puzzles and play kitchen, painting requested for this afternoon!
Made a loaf last night on fastbake - just to try....what a mess - looked more like a breeze block. DH said he'd make one for this morning and so the machine woke me up at 3.45am!!! Got braising steak and loads of veg in the slow cooker with some red wine and herbs - will do some mash to go with it and sausages for DD2 who's decided that anything with veg in is to much hassle.

Hiya
N9eav - glad DD's on the mend. I'm sure you can have a lovely belated birthday bash once she's better.
Today, done the school run, over to mum's and finished her cleaning, done her shopping and bank run, then back here cos I've my pigsty...erm house to cleanI have 6 kids in the house on Mon and Tues so it doesn't matter what I do, it's always trashed by the time they go home. In fact, today will be quick pick up and vac main areas - save the major clean for later in the week.
Have a gammon in the slow cooker, will have that for tea with boiled spuds and assorted veg. Lunch has been HM soup but as I'm so hungry, I have a couple of HM fishcakes in the fridge which I will do in a while
For all of you out there who are a bit worried about approaching a butcher - just go for it. I spoke to one on my mum's local market today, about buying a full or 1/2 a lamb (lamb is his speciality) and he says for 30 - 40lb meat it will cost around £60. Bargain, I say, as a decent leg alone can cost a tenner. Must really empty that freezer soon. He says now is the time to get them as prices will start to rise for Xmas soon. I'm actually going to speak to my local butcher (shop) cos he's good, but expensive - just to get a comparison. If you do frequent the markets - look for the stalls with the queues, that'll tell you if they are good. I have another market butcher I go to for beef - local, top quality and very reasonably priced.
Anyway, off to cook my fishcakes, have a browse whilst I eat, then the chores await

Hi All
Going mad with boredom at work.
Worked too many hours yesterday, got a late one today and then on the early shift tomorrow.
Really just want to go home and go back to bedComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
For those of you who are interested (just to see the savings that can be made etc) I've priced up some whole lambs. Online (just picked a few sites at random) they are up to £121, (depending on quality etc) My local and I always thought really expensive butchers has just quoted £3.31 per kilo, av. sized lamb is 20 kilos, so not a bad price, all in all.
I know this is old hat to some of you, but some people (including myself) haven't bought a full or half animal, so it may give you something to think about - especially if you have big freezers.0 -
Phew! managed to find my way back to OS again ok
I suddenly got transported away to a very strange place mid-post!!!
