  • I have used duct tape before with success and haven't had verrucas since. I had one on my foot that had been there ages and kept spreading and it was what the nurse recommended I do. The newer ones went more quickly than the older ones, which took some time. Just keep them covered with duct tape. Eventually you will see a change which means that they are about to heal.

my sisters got rid of mine I was 7 and had 2. my darling sisters thought it would be funny to hold me down and pull them out with tweezers- I was physically sick from the pain & had 2 gapping holes in my foot as they had got them out root and all. thank god I have never had them again and when my ds had them I was far more sympathetic- used bazuka and it worked very well.

Freezing stuff worked on DS3's but not the other two

Banana skin - tried for weeks - did zilch

Currently removing top layer everyday on DS1/2 and putting tea tree on - no effect yet

Think I'll try the duct tape maybe with the teatree oil

I have no professional knowledge but based on the gels and pads I've used containing salicilic acid, it just killed all the skin around the outside of the verrucas without actually getting rid. I found it painful to walk on them then. I've had some much better results with freezing (at my GP when they used to offer it).

Dee, my chiropodist said that their salicilic accid was a MUCH stronger grade than the over the counter stuff, so doing to a chiropodist would not mean paying for them to just put bazuka on it:D

File it down? get a pummice on it??
Mine's so big and deep I use a spare pair of nail scissers on it periodically, cutting around the edge and working deeper as I get to the middle, filing it down daily would do diddly squat, I'd need an electric sander!!

Im still using the tape, since I noticed this thread a few days ago, its made it go quite soft and spongy, but the tape slips eventually while walking (as its on the ball of my foot) and the tape then gets stuck to the glue in my shoe, when i take my shoe off its quite therapeutic as it feels like its pulling the verucca out!!

Im keeping my fingers crossed and going for it!

Oh poor you HM!!! that was a very mean thing, I can almost feel it, but at least it got rid of them!!

If Duck tape does not work for me, could you 'hire out' your sisters to me for the evening, although I think I would need a southern comfort to ease my nerves before they got the tweezers out!

I'm just picturing this after seeing someone with a wart on their nose the other day.

Thanks for the duct tape suggestion. OH is going to try it out.

I had varrucas as a child and suffered the freezing method at the chiropodist. Then I managed to get another one at uni which was quite big and the doctor said the freezing method wasn't that good (I'm a wimp and told him I didn't like the idea of having it frozen 3 - 4 times), and he referred me to hospital and I had it cut out under a local anasthetic. Oh the pain...it was horrible. Couldn't walk for ages, but it got rid of it!
