hello crafters. i rarely post on here, just lurk a lot so thought I'd come on and say hello & thank you so much. I've read so much on this thread about making really personal presents which will no doubt mean so much to their recipients at Christmas.
i've decided to combine a couple of your ideas for a young chap on my husbands side of the family who is notoriously difficult to buy for & I'm going to get some vinyl records, make bowls, and then fill them with retro sweeties & wrap them in cello as a retro themed hamper-style present.
Can anyone think of anything else I can add to it which won't break the bank, but is in keeping with a retro theme?
I might add that it is retro for him even though his teenage years were in the 90's!0 -
rainmac - that looks brilliant ! I really must have a go at this cross stitch
You've made a good job of the frame:T
You really must give it a go mary as it can be very relaxing and rewarding when you see the design coming together on blank fabric. The Xmas tree took me 2 evenings to stitch as it's all whole stitches and no backstitch, just what I like:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Great cross stitch Rainmac!
Yesterday I had a cross stitch panic as I have so much of it to get done for things. I've only finished one pressie and one card!! Nearly finished my robin but I really need to get my fingers moving hehe.
Will share the robin when he is done naturally!
Keep crafting xxx
I know what you mean siren, I had such hopes for stitching so many things but I was running out of time. I am thinking of starting my Xmas stitching for next year in January to make sure I can get it all done:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
hi,
there is 1 real £1 coin in there, 1 bag of BIG chocolate coins (on the top), 6 ferrero rocher, a few caramel cups, some fruit boiled sweets in gold wrappers, 4 toffees and about 4-6 small chocolate coins down the sides etc. the bowls are the deep ccereal ones!due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

lol no worries, I have days like that too. For example arguing with super glue for my mum to point out using my glue gun would have been easier. xx
Oh and I must say everyones projects are looking great Rainmac I think you must be a Christmas Machine and Yummy Mummy, I'm tempted to make pots of gold for a few people myself. I'm sorry if I've missed out anyone's projects, I must say that you've encouraged me to get my creative thing on!
Wilkonsons are doing chocolate coins on buy one get one free too, I'm sure they charge a £1 a bag. I may make some of these for the kids at the playcentre for Christmas.
xx:idea: Determined to sort her finances!

Rainmac have you got the pattern to that cross stitch atall? I really want to do something for my nan (she taught me to cross stitch) and that just seems perfect
Yummy Mummy your pots o' gold look fab! i keep wanting to do some but have nothing other than cellophane to use, and kindof feel that i should wrap them so you cant tell what it is...any ideas?
Im in such a christmassy mood at the moment, ive been makinf snowman soups by the bucket load for a christmas bizzarre, (Soups worked out about 70p each, cheapest hot choc we could find was sainsburies basic for 54p, doesnt taste to bad lol and each pot did 6 cones worth!) ive also been making jewellery and doing more vinyl bowls has been fun lol, especially the hunt for tennis balls for balls of life, finding yellow ones with no writing on is rather hard in november! found some in sport and soccer though about 30p each

I have got the cross stitch chart. Mine is a photocopy from my friend's mum who lives in America. If you'd like to PM me your address I can send you a copy of my copy:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I spent all last night straining my skittle flavoured vodka only to have to add more sweets as the smirnoff is still too sharp! I was not expected it to take so long and next week I'll have to do it again to get rid off the froth from the extra sweets, why is nothing as quick as you expect! Argghhhhh!0
-
Somewhere I have read on here that if you strain the vodka through a coffee filter paper it gets rid of the froth and makes it clearer.
Not tried it so dont know if it works pr not, might be worth a go though?Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T
