They are lovely Angie, I think double sided sticky tape is good, I tend to get in a mess with glue guns, thou they are fun!
I made two more sock monkeys yesterday, they are good except for the stitching in their crotch, just looks messy however hard I try, and as I'm using mulicolured stripy socks no single colour thread is subtle enough, I'm going to try to make clothes now to hide the seam.0 -

You should be able to get hold of invisible thread, it's basically 'Clear' thread that blends well with all colours. I use it for quite a few bits and bobs. I buy mine from the haberdashers in the market. If you can't find any and you want some message me and I'll pick you some up. Determined to sort her finances!

Thank you for all of the lovely comments on my book

Pinkladymel - that Xmas book is stunning, I love it :T Can't wait to see your pages, roll on December 1st
Angie - your cards are great :j. I use double sided tape (lots of it), glue dots and 3D foam pads on cards.
 If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
This is a tad embarrassing posting this after pinkladymel has posted her fabulous Xmas album but I picked up this 8x8 album in TK Maxx today for £3.99. It is a lovely shade of blue and comes with 20 pre-decorated pages to pop photos and journalling onto...
I think I'm going to add photos and give it to my OH or my m&d for Xmas. Have finished everyone's pressies really but for £3.99 I couldn't resist it:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I just got this press release from JOhn Lewis - is this all the MSErs buying up their stock?? LOL

Credit Crunched Shoppers Opt For Homemade Christmas Presents

According to reports from John Lewis, the trend for homemade CIY (Craft It Yourself) Gifts has started this Christmas, with a flurry of sales in departments not usually noted for festive footfall.

Sewing machines (up 18%), buttons (up 40%), knitting materials (up 27%), dress making patterns (up 12% on the last half of trading) were all enjoying a year on year uplift last week. In the cookware department, cake boards and frills (up 60.4%), biscuit cutters (up 17% on last two weeks last year) and baking aids (up 146.6%) are also on the rise.

Says Ed Connolly, Buyer, Haberdashery and Fabrics at John Lewis, “There is no doubt that many shoppers are opting for CIY Gifts, with homemade items reflecting the zeitgeist this Christmas that it is the thought that goes into the gift that holds the greatest value.”

Adds Julia Dudrenec, Welwyn Garden City John Lewis, “There are many first-timers coming into the haberdashery and dress fabrics departments asking for advice on how to create their own gifts. Some shoppers are being very creative, stitching fashion bags and skirts from old jeans, buying simple cotton bags and embellishing them with buttons, feathers and sequins with the new trend for “craft couture” really gathering momentum.”

Kids craft is also experiencing an unprecedented resurgence, up 116% last week with top lines including the Kits & Fashion Angels range and 'Tomtes'. Make your own Christmas decorations, puppets, and button bag kits are also selling well.
Concludes Ed Connolly, Buyer, Haberdashery and Fabrics at John Lewis, “As sewing machines are enjoying a renaissance in sales, we think this trend for craft couture is likely to last, with shoppers investing from £49 John Lewis Mini Sewing machine for entry priced models, to Elna Explore 8600 at £1,499 for top of the range sewing machines – with both ends selling well.”0 -
Pinkladymel - Your journal looks fab. I love the decorations on it especially the holly.
I have bought a cheap glue gun this morning to experiment with, will be good for something I am sure. The Works had them in for £4.99 and after checking prices on ebay I thought it seemed ok. Hope it's got good instructions as I haven't a clue what they are all about!!!!0 -
