If she hasn't got one, it might be an idea to pop in an address/birthday book as well.

Mary - apparently if you put in some rice with the lavender the rice kinda soaks up the sweat (like it attracts condensation stuff etc) I know what I mean even if nobody else does.
Might try that - lavender is a bit on the 'heady' side - well is for me when I'm using it.............was suggested that I mix some rosemary with it but not sure we've got any spare -OH loves it for cooking and who am I to interfere.........rice we've plenty of so I'll give it a go. Least I won't have to use as much lavender. Think I'll make some little muslin type bags to put the stuff in before I put it inside the bootys (raid first aid box...........lol)
Just spent ages googling images for a label to put on sons 'safe keeping' jar -got some in the end that aren't too 'girlie/kitchen' but found some lovely images when googling tea towel designs............bit late after the event but might be useful to someone.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Thats a good idea Mary, thanks.
I think I might have found something suitable - its a wooden box which would be nice necause I could decorate it and it would be a more "solid" gift than a cardboard box. And its only a few pounds, so still quite mse lol!0 -
Oooh I just thought of something I saw on a tv program a while ago which I thought would be great for people making gifts for little people. They were bath crayons - I'm sure all they did was mix soap flakes with some food colouring then 'set' them in bun cases / trays. You can use them to draw on titles etc. and they just washed off afterwards.
Sorry if this has been posted before (and please don't blame me if you try it and the food colouring marks anything: I've not tries the idea!) :rotfl:0 -
you can do it with broken up crayons in the oven as well, handy for the odds and ends that have been broken and discarded0

Triggles I hope you recover from the stomach flu soon. Like you I'm coming up with reasons to do gifts, I've just printed off one of those free personalized Christmas books for my Nephew, he's only 5 months, lol

I don't know if I am on the right thread, but after endless searching this is the only thread I can find that may be able to help. I have bought some clay from Woolworths to make some ornaments with the kids with it being half term. I got the clay cheap. It is a Chad Valley clay refill. The only thing is there are no instructions with it.
I was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes to dry and does it need to be baked before painting. Thanks for your help.

Oh please don't be too intrigued Crazychatter & Magic Mishkin. It may all go horribly wrong
I thought I'd seen these in a shop somewhere but now I'm not sure I did, so working from scratch this is the plan in my head...........
I’ve got a Sarson’s Vinegar bottle and I’m going to use pva glue and a long flat lolly stick to attach silver stars to the inside. Then I'll paint the inside dark blue (or maybe black I haven’t decided yet), the outside I thought maybe a pearlescent/transparent sheen (depends what it looks like without) and add a decorated cork to the top. (I’ll probably use feathers, 'gems' and silver thread to decorate the cork). Then I’m going to use a broken silver chain I have, I’ll attach one end to the top and the other to the neck of the bottle with a label, which will say something like:-
This bottle contains 3 wishes, especially for you
and I hope with all my heart, each one you make comes true.
If it works it'll be great if not........ back to the drawing board. But you'll have to wait a while to find out as I've been made to promise no more Christmas until we get back from our holiday, we go on Weds and come back 14th Nov, which is way too close to Christmas for my liking but a promise is a promise.0 -

Also found this as i wanted to make a sleep pouch hopefully i`ll buy a little pouch or use a muslin bag. You could change the lavender for chamomile is lavender is too heady for you as Mary43 says.
http://www.dreamacres.co.uk/acatalog/SLEEP_SACKS.html#a36 these are my inspiration. I have bought things from this lady in the past the little carrots are cute under home fragrance section.
