It is cold this morning isn't it!!! Maria, do 10 star jumps and then bound your way to the shower. Feel awake yet?

Have a nice cuppa when you get back from the school run.

Just thought I'd say that I saw the Post box boxes in Hobbycraft, they had two sizes, one for normal wine bottles and the other for larger bottle, maybe whisky, they were £1.99 and £2.99. Then I saw them in one of those temporary Christmas shops that just suddenly appear to sell tacky christmas stuff for a few months, they only had the small but was cheaper at £1.50. So hopefully if someone doesn't have a Matalan nearby they may be able to track them down somewhere else.

thanks for that. they didn't have them in our Matalan so I might see if one of those Christmas shops appears in Durham. Or i might use the kilner jars I bought in Tesco today for 87p!

    Hi All!!

Sorry I've been away I was off celebrating my brithday yesterday!! 21!

Maria - I have to get out the house at 6:30am to get to work and its getting harder and harder the colder it gets. I had to de-ice the car this morning!

Still working on my sisters cross stitch at the moment its taking over my life and is all in dark colours. Hoping to get it done by pay day so I can buy some lovely new threads and get onto my sparkling Christmas stuff.

    Hello everyone,

Well it took me a week of lunch breaks and 4 hours on Saturday while OH was at the football but I have finally read all the posts on this and Gift in a Jar threads!

This is my very first post ever and I'm a bit nervous but after speading so much time reading this thread I feel like I know most of you already. It's so nice to know there are people out there just like me (or for those who were on this link in June, worse than me :rotfl: .)

I have my lists and am making a few hampers this year so the ideas on here have been great, I especially like the journal, which I think I'll do for my mum and dad and it's even made me think of a couple of other things which I meant to do last year but never got round to. (Like some Rainbow Crystals for BIL to be - he really likes sherbet but not the liquorice that comes with it so I'm going to make my own in various colours, rainbow them in a jar and then add those candy canes some of you have used with the snowman soup)

I also wondered if any of you could help me with some advice. I want to make something that involves painting glass, but having never done this before was unsure how to proceed. Any hints on where to get cheap paints for glass?

I'll shut up now otherwise I'll take up the rest of the page :lipsrseal
  • welcome MrsLove, i love sherbert but i also love the liqourice too lol, good luck with your pressies

  • Mrs Love- I'm a relative newbie too!!!

Imade some hand decorated vases recently with my DD who is 4. We mixed pva glue with poster paints then varnished the vases when we'd finished with clear nail varnish. Have to admit they look quite good so we moved on to decorating glass jars and used them as pots to collect our loose change and pencil pots! HTH
