  • question for the lady that hand stichted sock monkeys -

what stitch did you use? i dont have a sewing machine and i'm quite worried that they will come apart IF i dont use a decent stich.

I also handstitch my monkeys and ive found that if you use fluffy socks the stiches dont show at all so you dont have to be the neatest sewer ;) , and its soo fluffy and nice too.
  • Just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone and hope things are going well in all your preparations! Still doing a lot of my scrapbooking and looking for ideas for little presents I can make for the men in my life!

I found a couple of bargains for some pots of gold - T J Hughes were doing bags of chocolate money for 99p BOGOF and Tescos are doing 2 200g boxes of Ferrero Rocher for £5.50 as opposed to £3.27 each

I also picked up these bottle boxes from Matalan in their 3 for 2 offer. 6 in total for £5.00PA020026.JPG. Planning to use them for home made selection boxes for neices and nephews.

Sorry for posting these letterboxes again but I think they are really great :D Love the idea of using them for selection boxes :T

  • Just thought I'd say that I saw the Post box boxes in Hobbycraft, they had two sizes, one for normal wine bottles and the other for larger bottle, maybe whisky, they were £1.99 and £2.99. Then I saw them in one of those temporary Christmas shops that just suddenly appear to sell tacky christmas stuff for a few months, they only had the small but was cheaper at £1.50. So hopefully if someone doesn't have a Matalan nearby they may be able to track them down somewhere else.
  • 'Spiced Coffee-
    10 tablespoon ground coffee
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    3 tablespoons powdered sugar
    1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in a jar.

Instructions for making: as normal instant coffee. Best with cream instead of milk but good with milk too!'

I got the receipe off someone on here, a hamper thread I think.

I think this recipe looks great so I am looking to use it in my hampers this year although I am slightly confused as its mentions using ground nutmeg twice. If anyone can clear this up for me I would be most grateful.

While im posting, thanks to all you lovely crafty people you have really helped with ideas for my hampers this year. Good luck with the crafting. :D

    Hello,

I was in tesco today and they are selling their bags of chocolate money on BOGOF - they are priced at 99p. I thought they might help someone doing the 'pots of gold'. I think I'll be doing them this year - also, just to make it a little different for the couples in my family so they don't both have the same I think I might do some 'pots of silver' with the white chocolate money and the silver wrapped ferrero rocher or something like that :D

Tesco also have boxes of 12 candy canes for 99p but they are only red and white striped.

Anyone got a good recipe for gift in a jar chicken noodle soup that will fit a 0.5L kilner? Tried some of the ones on the net but need a more british one rather than american (ingredients). Can anyone help please?
