question for the lady that hand stichted sock monkeys -
what stitch did you use? i dont have a sewing machine and i'm quite worried that they will come apart IF i dont use a decent stich.due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

yummy mummy amy - i also handstitched my sock monkeys, i used a back stitch and sewed about a couple of centimetres then went back and overstitched the bit i had just sewed so that it wouldnt fray. it didnt take long to stich them and i made about 5 in a weekend.0

i have jsut had a thought that may help some1.....
last year my kids wanted disnry "pillows/cushoins" i wasnt prepared to pay £20+ for them from the disney store. so i went to ebay and bought half a dozen baby all-in-1 character coat suits. stitched them up and stuffed them, stitched the gap and made cushions. my kids love them. will take some pics and add later.due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

seabee I love those bottle boxes and what a fab idea to use them for selection boxes. I must go and see if they have them in our matalansaving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

I LOVE these!! My kids would love them too. I think I may have to shamelessly steal your idea!0 -
I found a couple of bargains for some pots of gold - T J Hughes were doing bags of chocolate money for 99p BOGOF and Tescos are doing 2 200g boxes of Ferrero Rocher for £5.50 as opposed to £3.27 each
I also picked up these bottle boxes from Matalan in their 3 for 2 offer. 6 in total for £5.00. Planning to use them for home made selection boxes for neices and nephews.
WOW these are great. Guess where I'm going this weekend?! Great idea to use for homemade selection boxes. Also good for anyone making home-made flavoured vodkas to wrap them in.0 -
if they are of use go ahead and do it. my boys wrestle with them, sleep on them, throw them at each other etc.
they are stuffed with an old quilt, but you could use proper toy stuffing if you have any. i literally sewed up the zips and poppers etc and then where the hood is, folded it over so you could see the face and stitched (this took a few attempts to get it right and alot of swearing!) have fun doing them.
as i said i picked them up off ebay really cheap, i think the dearest thing as such was buying the cottons in the right colours (you could do it all in white if you can do small enough stitches but i wanted them to match)due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

Just had another idea for the matalan pillar boxes....
I'm planning to get my boys (aged 5 and 2) to do hand-painted mugs for grandparents (we have a ceramics paint-your-own pottery centre nearby) and could use the boxes to wrap them along with snowman soup sachets, whiskey miniatures, tea caddy, etc as a nice little personalised gift!0
