If he were to buy a Senior Railcard, the price for the same tickets fall to £44.55 each way.
I.e. £89.10 for the return journey.
Of course he needs a railcard, and at £26.00 thats a total for the trip of £115.10... still a saving of nearly £20.0 -

Don't get me wrong, I understand some people prefer it, but this really does push up the price.
This journey can be done for £36.15, with a railcard, or £54.75 without. That's standard Class.0 -

I'm looking to go from Exeter St Davids to Leicester from 2-4 Oct but the prices at the moment are showing as £87.50 return. Is there any way it can be done cheaper?
Thanks0 -

I would think you will have to get train up to London then up to Leicester but the cheap fares wont be out yet but should be in a couple of weeks.0 -

But using a sample weekend, 4-6 Sep, its best to get cheap Advance Singles between Exeter St.D and Birmingham New Street, and then a off peak return from there to Leicester for £14.00.
4Sep - Exeter StD to Birmingham N.St =£26.00 Advance Single via XC trains
6Sep - Birmingham N.St to Exeter St.D =£16.50 Advance Single via XC trains
So total cost for return journey could be £56.50 or cheaper.0 -
Hi, I am hoping someone might be able to offer some help. I was planning on taking myself, my brother and my two children to London from Loughborough, leaving at around 11am on 25th august and starting the return journey at 6pm ish same day.
After checking on midline the initial tickets are £30 but the return ticket is £130! This seems really bizarre.
I can't possibly afford that on top of the theatre tickets I hope to purchase for the day out.
Can anyone offer any advice please?Jan-March: reduced monthly food bill by £400 (cancelled overdraft and started saving)
April: £112.17/£180 food budget. £9.39/£20 household. 4/15 NSD's.
