Fresh sliced apple is lovely. But when DS was younger, I grated it in and it was lovely and sweet like that. Works with pear too.
I add it when I add the milk. Right at the start. Goes nice and soft and the flavour goes right through.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I grate my apple in but only right at the end - when the oats are cooked, I turn the stove off, then grate an apple, add a drizzle of honey and a handful of chopped hazelnuts - yum!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

I asked him what it is he doesn't like about porridge and he said it's the thick gloopy texture which makes him gag after a few mouthfuls, rather than the actual taste/flavour. I've said I'll try a few different options with fruit and stuff and at least he's willing to try it"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Have you tried something like Oatmeal of Alford (available at Lakeland and Tesco) - this has a more nutty taste and a coarse, grainer texture which he might prefer?? If you go to http://www.lakelandlimited.com and do a search for oatmeal it gives you some info about it.

The best-kept secret north of the Border!
In an age where mass-produced foods monopolise the supermarkets, it’s heart-warming to know that a traditional mill, founded in 1884, is continuing to produce its specialist oatmeals.
Kiln dried and stone ground, resulting in a real old-fashioned, crisp, ‘nutty’ flavour, and completely natural, without additives or preservatives.

In a large dish in the microwave, 1 cup value oats with just under 2 cups milk or milk and water. We like ours with demerara sugar on the top.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I use Mornflake oats. We got a massive bag from the C&C. I like to soak the oats overnight (one cup oats, one cup of water) and then the next day add one cup of milk. Tastes great with a sliced banana in it.0_o0
