Made hot porridge yesterday and it was not good:(. So have reverted back to my porridge oats & cold milk -luvverly with fresh sliced chopped apple in.

Going to have to experiment how much water/milk I need to put in with 30g porridge oats  cos I shall need it if this weather starts getting much colder!
  • Quacker and Scotts are the nicest of the ones I have tried so far. Have got some Pertwood organic ones, but not tried them yet - their Organic Muesli with
Fruit and Seeds is gorgeous so here's hoping. The mornflake ones (Lakeland & Tesco sell them) are good too but a different taste to the others.

You cant beat Scotts porage oats easy to use in microwave or old fashioned way in the pot which is my way as my lads eat at least 2 bowls each of this . Micro no good for more than one portion.
  • I don't think NUTMEG has been mentioned in connection with porridge or apples as an excellent addition. Certainly traditional in Jamacan recipes but that's maybe because they have been aware of nutmeg's Aphrodisiac qualities

We had apple, cinamon and mixed dried fruit porridge this morning. But does anyone know if it's okay to reheat and how to do it if so? I made too much as DH didn't have time to eat it. It's in the fridge.

    I don't have a microwave.

No problems reheating but you will probably need to stir some more milk in to stop it burning on the bottom.

If you've got hens they love left over porridge. (not tried the nutmeg thenicon12.gif)

I considered the nutmeg but decided that would be best as an erm supper dish given the benefits!!!

Is it just freshly sliced apple you add? I think I might be able to persuade DS to eat some if I tart it up with some fruit and spices ;)

Oh, and do you add it during or after cooking? I usually use the microwave method to make porridge as I don't need to make large quantities :)
