This board and the DFW board.

Ok I don't get it, what's the problem here, I have read many threads on here and there seems to be a minority who appear to have a real problem with the DFW board.
One comment was 'come here for advice, go to DFW for hugs', come on guys, get over yourselves.
Welcome Triker. We can do courteous, see?
Try not to take forum comments so seriously. Each board does seem to develop its own distinct style and it doesn't mean that one is more helpful than the other -it's just that we don't generally do "fluffy" on here. We're all part of the MSE community, what's the problem?Maybe one day life may take a direction you were'nt expecting and you may need to visit the DFW board and ask for support and advice, my guess is that you will be treated with courtesy not contempt. And so what if some people send hugs to others, at least someone bothers to reply to a thread with something positive.
Some like virtual hugs, some appreciate being told straight.
What constitutes courtesy to some, constitutes fluffy to others
We're all different.
The majority of us do offer practical and positive suggestions, just in a different style.0 -
It's like saying to someone who has asked you to comment on a dress that doesn't suit;
DFW board, 'mmmm that colour doesn't do you any favours, I think this may be a better choice'.
Housing board 'Your fat, ugly, you can't afford the dress anyway, give up, you shouldn't aspire to wear dresses anyway, get a grip, the dress will be repossessed.'BTW how's the bread?
Sticking to pizza dough at the moment! Getting the hang of that, although slight error when I was trying to mix up a half load the other night. VERY carefully measuring out HALF the ingredients, until the last flurry of huggy happiness when I cheerfully chucked the whole (instead of half) amount of water in... pressed START ... went outside ... realised ... and rushed back in to double up all the ingredients quickly before it was too late to correct it. Grateful I did remember though or that'd have been 2 hours wasted in gleeful unawareness (is that a real word?).
Turned out OK, but then I had 6 pizzas. Which I promptly ate within about 20 hours.
Do I get a big huggle now?0 -
DFW is meant to offer support whereas this board is more for opinion and advice.
To the same thread on both boards, here I would post,
"Your best bet is to sell up and rent."
There I would post,
"Well done for facing upto your problems. There are people on here that will advise on your outgoings.
You may have to face up to selling your home and living somewhere more affordable".
If it seems the poster is really stressed, I may add, "Hugs to you!"
