I want (and expect) house prices to crash so that responsible people can afford decent homes, not so that they can't.
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!

Having sat for weeks wanting to post for advice but being too scared of being shot down in flames for whatever question I posted..........I finally plucked up the courage!!

I am now quite into it!! Have to agree though there are some people who are quite nasty but the trick is to sort through all the cr*p posts, don't take them to heart and appreciate the genuine advice posted amongst it.

(PS I haven't been to the DFW board as I KNOW we should cancel our Sky, cancel the dog insurance, buy non-brand nappies, jog the 50 miles a day to work so we can sell both cars....etc. etc.....I'm just not ready to face it all yet so I stay on here asking how I can sell my house at a time like this!! Am I setting myself up for the firing line or what???)

Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

It was meant to be a joke!!!!!!!!! For Pete's sake maybe the difficulty to portray any sort of humour on here is half the problem!

Ok, I've lost the plot now. I can see #63 and #64 were both jokes.
So #65 confused me as it looked like #64 wasn't taken as a joke.
Or my erratic sense of humour missed it in #65

I do try hard to keep up.

OK so what do you think WILL happen. Lets here your thought as to how the government can get out of it.

Lets clear things up for you - undenyable facts:
When masses of people start to go bankrupt, the banks get into trouble, and the entire economy comes to a halt. You go to the supermarket and your cards dont work. You fill up with petrol and your cards dont work. People find their overdrafts are withdrawn overnight. People with "cash" in bank account find they can't get it back.

How the F**k is the government going to solve it. Please tell us. Please. Please tell the government and the banks because they currently have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY CAN DO TO GET OUT OF IT.

There is no solution. You can't get out of it. You can't have large numbers of people borrowing money and not having to pay it back. It just wont work. A few people here and there can go bankrupt but if large number of people do it, you WILL bring down the ENTIRE banking system. If you government arranges some sort of debt forgiveness scheme then no-one has a reason to repay any debt, and money losses all value.

The only way to keep some semblance of society together is to make people do whatever they have to do to repay the debts.

Um, you are aware that it's not the BANKS money. It's their CUSTOMERS money. It's their SAVERS money. It's peoples PENSIONS.

    :rotfl:

And there I was thinking that brit1234 was the chief scare-mongerer on here but your post above makes him look ultra-positive in comparison!!!

You really do need to take a chill pill and calm down instead of working yourself up into a huge lather over stuff you can't do owt about. :rotfl:

Personally I couldn't give two hoots if the banks collapse. I don't use them (except for 1 direct debit for my ISP) and all my money is stashed elsewhere where there's no risk of me losing it if (when?) the banks collapse.

Young people don't know how to riot. Get a load of OAPs who've lost their pensions, who know how to organise and have nothing to lose apart from a retirement in poverty, and "the city" as they call it will burn.

I :smileyhea:smileyheayou SquatNow. You are soo right. Give me a bus load of pensioners and I'll give you the world.

Thanks, your posting made me smile:D They're really not that bad on DFW - I haven't seen anyone advise to sell your car and jog 50 miles to work. its not the non-brand nappies you need to worry about but the ancient towelling ones that need to be boil washed every day:eek: Seriously though, we on DFW could possibly shave a bit off your shopping bill and advise on where you could save money or get money back with clever shopping.

Hope you manage to sell your house:D

Don't stress about SN......he has some interesting views and has been really nice and calm to posters recently...he just gets a bit cross now and again, like we all do. Don't take his response as personal to your post..I don't think it was.
I think their hidden, covered up anger is why some posters can come across as a bit aggressive (especially to a newbie poster) but after a while one gets to understand why they are cross.
The Oracle lets them let off a bit of steam...in Internet land it doesn't feel so real whilst in Real life land, peple would get fed up with your moaning and never ask you out for a drink (they'd be getting the graphs and clippings out all night, poring and ranting over them)

I 'Really Hate to say it' (but I will), gender shows in a lot of the postings too.

Anyone noticed how some of the males back away as soon as threads get a bit human??
