c.Inclusive creative adventures for children of all abilities.
    d. Recent funding cuts have indicated a future decrease in programme activity for the organsiation Giant thus having a knock on effect on the number of chidlren and families we reach therefore we would like to put ourselves forward for this fund.
Giant are an inclusive arts organisation committed to providing accessible creative adventures for a wide range of kids with different needs and a wide range of experience of the world. As a company we try to understand how they understand the world and reflect this in the way we develop our work.
Giant define inclusive arts as art form experiences which are developed and delivered to enable all children regardless of ability to engage in the creative process together at the same time. For Giant, inclusion is not an 'add-on' but the driving force behind everything we do.
  • The Histiocytosis Research Trust.
    www.hrtrust.org
Langerhans’ Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) is a serious and enigmatic cancer-like disorder which, like leukaemia, originates in the bone marrow and spreads through the blood stream. Many parts of the body especially the bones, skin, liver, lungs, digestive tract, brain and pituitary gland can be affected and around 15% of sufferers die.
Though LCH does occur in adults and teenagers, almost all the fatal cases are in young children, less than 3 years of age. Of all surviving patients, around one half have permanent damage to their liver, lungs, brain and/or endocrine glands, especially the pituitary gland. Thus, LCH often leaves a “legacy” of organ damage that impairs these young peoples’ quality of life. In the worst of these instances, patients do not achieve a genuinely independent existence.
About the charity : histiocystosisrt_logo.gifThe Histiocytosis Research Trust
The main aim of the Histiocytosis Research Trust is to fund research and scientific study into the causes of Histiocytosis and the development of improved means for diagnosis and treatment. We also provide information and support to families affected by Histiocytosis. We offer services such as our UK Family Roadshow Meetings (led by an expert or experts in LCH/HLH) and our Befriending Scheme where families can be matched to share experiences. We are therefore extremeley grateful for any contribution you are able to make.

To read more about this dreadful disease, please take a look at our website www.hrtrust.org Many thanks for considering this very worthy charity and my best wishes go to all.

Each week I talk to families who are affected by this dreadful disease. It is imperative that we raise as much as possible, so that we may fund essential research into finding a rational cure. Several of our families are bereaved, having lost their precious and beautiful children to Histiocytosis. Many children and adults have to endure operations, steriod treatments, chemotherapy and sometimes, bone marrow transplants. Most of our funding comes from families affected by this rare and enigmatic disease. God Bless.

Samson Chivatsi African Children's Appeal (SCO 27998)

Providing education to defeat poverty and promote self-sufficiency

This charity and sponsorship programme, established in 1998 by Maureen and Ian McIntyre, who were so affected by the poverty, poor health and lack of facilities at the school they visited whilst on holiday in Kenya, aims to give the poorest children in Utange, near Mombassa, access to a good education.

Named after the first child they sponsored in 1998, the charity is run by Maureen and her daughter Yvonne with the help of enthusiastic fundraisers and sponsors. Everybody's time is given voluntarily and they don't spend money on offices or salaries, so all the money raised through donation and sponsorship goes to where it's most needed.

This charity's educating more than 750 children, provides kindergarten facilities, built a primary school and will complete phase two of the secondary school this year. They've installed electricity, drilled two fresh water bore holes and introduced a school feeding programme. Please vote for SCACA

The Skills Exchange run by the small charity the Partnership Council (charity number 1092057). The website is www.partnershipcouncil.co.uk
Help someone out and get help in return
The Skills Exchange is a Time Bank. Members help each other out and membership is free. For every hour that members help someone else they will receive one time credit, you can then go on to swap these time credits when you want something doing for you. You can also donate your time credits to other people. One hour’s work equals one time credit no matter what skills are used. All skills have equal value.
The sorts of skills that can be exchanged are many and varied and the only limit is your imagination! Exchanges have included shopping for elderly people, guitar lessons, building planters out of old wood, mending a broken chest of drawers, and baking for Skill Exchange social events. Organisations can be members too. For example the Nottingham Credit Union waive the membership fee for Skill Exchange members in return for help with leafletting. The Skill Exchange members also organise a popular weekly coffee morning and have regular social events, and these have been popular with elderly and more isolated members.

  • Finally cracked it! Partners Relief and Development UK support those who have far greater challenges in far worse conditions. So well done CCH for cracking it too!
  • a) Christie's

    b) http://www.christie.nhs.uk/about/appeal.aspx

    c) One of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe.

    d) ‘Christie's’ is the name of the charity that raises funds for Christie Hospital. The work they do is second to none in the battle against cancer the dedication of the staff is unbelievable. My mum was rushed in about 8 weeks ago, I visited her everyday, sometimes I had to sleep there as she was so ill. The doctors & nurses looked after her so well during this difficult period where we nearly lost her several times. She is now back home, being treated as an out patient. I was so impressed with the love and care of so many people working in the hospital that I would like to nominate Christie's.
  • a) The Campaign for Learning
    b) www.campaignforlearning.org.uk
    c) Promoting learning that builds confidence and fulfils potential
    d) The Campaign for Learning aims to stimulate a passion for learning that leads to positive change. People who are open to learning and do something about it are happier, healthier, less likely to commit crime and can earn more money, benefiting themselves and the economy. We support people of all ages to develop the confidence, skills and motivation to learn so they feel able to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Developing confident lifelong learners is at the root of all our projects, from working with dads to understanding pensions and managing money. We reach thousands of people each year through our national campaigns, Family Learning Week, Learning at Work Day and Learning to Learn in Schools, the biggest initiatives of their kind in the country. With your support, we can help even more people to help themselves, their families & communities and the UK as a whole.
