a) International Wildlife Coalition Trust
b) http://www.iwctk9.co.uk/iwct_today.html
c) Philippine Dog Rescue (UK based registered charity)
d) An amazing charity and one totally worthwhile in my opinion. This tiny charity was founded and and is run by one gentleman who on visiting the Phillipines was appalled at the cruelty he witnessed within the dog meat trade. I have been a supporter for a few years now and from regular newsletters realise that the charity is always struggling finacially to meet it's operating and development costs. IWCT works closely with the Philippine government to try to stop the illegal trade in dog meat. They regularly peform raids at illegal the dog meat markets and take the rescued dogs to safety at their own rescue centre where the dogs are given veterinary treatment if necessary and are housed and fed until they are found loving homes. They are also involved in campaiging for toughter legislation on the issue of the dog meat trade and have pushed for tougher fines for those caught. To date they have rescued hundreds of dogs destined to end up on the dinner table but do struggle financially to keep the centre running. The cruelty that these poor creatures endure before they die is nothing short of barbaric.
Sorry for such a long description but are am truly passionate about this charity and as such want to give it the introduction it deserves.0 -
a) Rowdeford Charity Trust
b) https://www.rowdefordcharity.org.uk
c) Supporting children with disabilities and special needs
d) The charity was set up to support children with disabilities and special needs with particular regard to their education. The charity is independent, but focuses a lot of its efforts on advancing and improving the education of pupils who attend Rowdeford Community Special School in Wiltshire. The charity has already enabled the school to complete the building of a centre specifically to support pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. They are currently trying to raise money for an arts therapy centre, which is essential in helping the pupils develop vital skills for the future to enable them to access all aspects of life. We are a small charity, which means that we usually miss out on the big money payouts that some charities get. Thanks for your consideration.

a. The Official Name of the Charity:
The Myotubular Trust.
b. A link to the Website of the Charity.
http://www.myotubulartrust.com/.
c. A desciption of no more than 8 words of the charity - this is crucial, its what will be used to describe the charity in the vote.
Fundraising for Myotubular Myopathy, a rare neuromuscular condition.
d. One paragaph only (max 150 words) of why this charity should be supported; whether that's for your personal reasons or more generally.
The Myotubular Trust is a charity, set up in February 2006, with the aim to raise money for the rare neuromuscular condition, Myotubular Myopathy.
The Trust started in February 2006 and raises money through a variety of events. The Trusts inaugural fundraising event was an attempt to beat the record for the World’s Longest Bunting line, which they did in spectacular style, not only raising money but also raising the profile of the condition along the way.
The sheer determination of its founders Wendy and Anne is now about to see the creation of a Patient Registry and I would like to nominate the Myotubular Trust because I believe Wendy and Anne are amazing fundraisers, who carry out their work on an entirely voluntary basis for the benefit of others and as a small charity deserve all the help they can get.0 -

superscaper wrote: »a. UK Multiple Sclerosis Society
b. http://www.mssociety.org.uk/
c. UK's largest charity for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis
d. Purely for selfish/personal reasons, I've got a close friend who was diagnosed with MS at only 30. I feel so helpless for her to do anything practical.
I have MS, and would like to speak up for this charity; yes, they are a big charity - but their size reflects the number of people affected by the disease.
They do practical: they bought me an adjustable bed to make mine & my husband's (he's my carer) lives easier, with a special mattress to make my days more comfortable. They also helped with car adaptations to make it easier for me to leave the house when I'm well enough.
They do emotional: the helpline is always there, providing a listening ear, and support on the dark days when the reality of living with this disease becomes too much to bear.
They provide advice, and factsheets on every aspect of living with MS.
They provide support, through the funding of MS nurses who act as a bridge to various medical services.
They give hope, through research.
They DO help - please support them.0 -
A) Hospital Radio Tunbridge Wells
www.hrtw.org.uk
C) Charity Radio station serving patients 2 Kent hospitals
D) Hospital Radio Tunbridge Wells serves patients of the Kent & Sussex and Tonbridge Cottage hospitals in Kent. Our broadcast service is also available to friends and relatives and those recuperating after their stay online via our website (take a listen, link above).
I am one of around 40 proud volunteers who are dedicated to provide a 24 hour service to patients, providing a variety of music and speech based entertainment and information….we even carried information from Martin’s podcast to spread the word on thrifty tips!
We actively interact with the patients to assist in their recovery and help bring a smile to their faces or provide a distraction to what can otherwise be a traumatic time in their life.
Any nomination for donation would help us in continuing providing the service to the patients for some time to come. Thank you.

Hands of Love UK (reg charity 1123685)
www.handsoflove.org.uk
Dedicated to helping an orphanage in Uganda
Hands of Love UK is a small charity thats main focus is the Hands of Love orphanage in Uganda. The orphanage is home to 330 children who have nothing including in many cases clothes. They sleep outside on the ground and usually exist on a gruel of maize flour and water. They only eat if they are sponsored or if we can raise enough donations to pay for a meal. The orphanage currently does not have any permanent buildings only a few mud huts which are instable during rainstorms. Most of the children have lost their parents to AIDS related illnesses or due to the unrest in the North of the country. The long term aim is to give each child opportunities to gain an education and skills for life to break the cycle of poverty they are currently caught in.0 -
a. Friends of Mulauje Orphans ( FOMO ) UK Charity 1090727
b. www.fomo.co.uk
c. COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR 4000 ORPHANS IN RURAL MALAWI
d. F0M0 is a Community Based Programme working through a network of 9 centres in rural Malawi ( one of the poorest countries in Africa )
From just 20 children and a donation of £100 in 2000, FOMO has grown through donations and voluntary help to now support 4000 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS AND EXTREME POVERTY.
FOMO provides food, health care, education and shelter.
FOMO keeps children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty integrated in their own communities by supporting fostered care.
FOMO promotes education and skill development to aid self sufficency.
I believe this Charity fully reflects the aims and principals of moneysavingexpert.com with 100% of every donation going to FOMO'S Community based programmes run by over 200 Malawian volunteers (fund raising by FOMO UK is run entirely by unpaid volunteers ). This is a small Charity which cuts out the administration and advertising costs of the Large Charities.
Please support FOMO they will use your money wisely.
I am aware that many worthy causes have been nominated on this site and would like to thank moneysavingexpert.com for providing this opportunaty to raise the profile of lesser known charities who provide excellent value for your donations.0
