  • g&b - suggest you look at www.acas.org.uk - and give them a ring for advice. Their site will also have links to other useful sites like H & S.

(((G&B))) - hugs for you too, you must have got a terrible shock. Did you find anything on the acas website?

MrsV - what part of the country are you in? My house has been on the market for about 6 weeks and I've only had 2 viewers. I'm about to take it off the market and rent it out. Good luck with yours :D

Gnb.. they CANNOT dismiss him.. even as a subby.. the employer have a legal obligation to provide safe working conditions and HAVE by law to check the safety of the equipment every 6 months.. they are also NOT permitted to tell the employer who has reported them so he should have kept his mouth shut and not said anything but just done it anyway.. but what is done is done. If, God forbid, someone had been killed the company would have been prosecuted for manslaughter. If he is not permitted to go back to work tomorrow he should get in touch with the union IMMEDIATELY and sue for loss of earnings and unfair dismissal. (hubby is home.. can you tell?)

Quick in and out - started to read the thread earlier then BstFH from up the road popped in to fill the hole where the plaster fell out when they were doing the ceiling last Saturday. Took him ages! I've been flying whilst he was here - did the kitchen (to about level 2). Watered the garden. Pulled up some mint which has gone wild in the last week and is choking my dahlia and popped it in the green bin which is being collected tomorrow as there was room. Took all the washing off the line that DiL had put up at some point in the day.

As it's such a good drying evening and tomorrow is going to be as good, I popped all the bedding from the futon in the front room (Bigsis and her bloke are stopping over at the end of the month) in the wash and it's now on the line. So it'll still be more or less fresh when they stop over in two weeks.

Got absolutely boiling hot at work today and am only just about cooling down. Productivity sure drops when the heat rises. I don't know how the people in uniform cope.

    But, enough about me.

Mudbath - sending you enormous hugs and things and coping vibes. Such sad news.
    Hippy - hoppy happy birthday!
Dusty - ORF - yes, it needs to get going again. I'll find the latest IP address tomorrow evening and let ORF ops know it.
G&B - as Pigpen said, even if hubby is a subby, site rules and regs still hold. Plus, surely his contract will have something in it which means he can't be off site tomorrow. You'd best get that pic downloaded off his mobile phone PDQ and printed out and backed up in more than one place.
Nicki - well done on your marks..

But, where has the time gone? I need to eat. DiL is at her parents, DS has just come back from the pub and told me he's going to his mate's to watch Lost on DVD or something so will eat there. I think I'll do me a stir fry with the beef left from last night and see'f there's anything remotely worth watching on the TV for an hour or so before I flop into bed...

GnB - awful situation, keep us posted and hope everything is sorted tomorrow

Nicki - well done with your assignment

Poohbear - hopefully lesson learned and you get a housework slave for the week!

Welcome newbies - I need some of your enthusiasm!

Because I know how to live the high life - off to tackle the kitchen!

G&B - from what everyone says hopefully it will all be ok but what a worry in the mean time. I'm really glad he was ok though, that could have been so nasty.

Thanks everyone for their hugs and support. I'm still feeling a bit at a loose end but things go on. Going to have an early night rather than hit the wine. Still got 9 weeks before I can drink again, lol, probably just as well.

    Night all xx
