Well my hubby may no longer have a job! He just phoned to say he nearly had an accident on site when a concrete block fell through a chute(he works on a building site) as the chute had broken, he was only saved because on of the plasterers yelled at him to watch out. He spoke to the site manager who didnt seem bothered, so he then spoke to health and safety. Now the site manager has told him because he spoke to H&S he wants him off site tomorrow:mad: Surely they cant fire him for reporting something like that
He would most likely have been killed if it had hit him!
Sorry, just needed to vent, i'm really annoyed! He works 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week for them, and this is how they treat him?The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

No they cannot fire him for this, unless he is a subcontractor.. in which case it is completely different but there should be something in his contact in this case.. if he is employed on the books they cannot.. and I know with 100% certainty.. hubby had a similar situation last year.. noone was injured or even nearly injured but someone reported the site as 'unsafe' and it had to be followed up.. If the employer insists on not allowing him to work he can take it to the union.. even if he is not a member of the union they will still hold an unfair dismissal hearing.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi everyone. Ive calmed down after my rant re engineer not coming. Been so hot here today but looks cooler tomorrow.
chas97michelle Hope DS1 is feeling better.
poohbear How is DS3 now, did he manage the cleaning?
Mudbath Sorry to hear about your friend. Big hugs for you.
g&b Thats horrendous he was very lucky. He is entitled to speak to Health and Safety. Is he in a union? Even if he isnt he has rights. The only thing the site manager will be bothered about is whether H&S shut the site down. They arent bothered about the workforce.

my mother was here earlier and ds2 came home from school.. wearing.. a tshirt, his long sleeved school shirt AND a huge thick wool jumper... he must have been mafting!! I told him to take off the jumper.. and his tie.. and put the shirt in the wash and my mother said it can't be dirty he has only worn it today... I asked him ' is that the shirt you wore last week?' he said YES!! dirty little troll.. I knew it was by the cuffs which were black.. I wouldn't mind but he has about 8 shirts (he did have 10 but a few have been binned after being worn for a couple of weeks without being washed.. he was putting clean ones in the wash so he could wear the 'comfy' dirty ones!!) And then she wonders why I still wash him and collect his laundry from about the house! I brushed his teeth yesterday.. so they were clean.. I am sick of seeing him with dirty teeth!! Noone ever believe me when I say how bad he is!! they think I am over reacting when I say he needs to be washed etc.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

He is sub contracted unfortunately. He is still going into work tomorrow to see what they say. Apparently they have been hastily fixing the chute before H&S arrive, he has taken a photo of it with his phone though. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
