looks like i spoke too soon, i no longer have a connection to sipgate, but it may just be my crappy university internet connection0

Got it working
I originally had SIP port 5061 set for sipgate on line 1, and 5060 set for sipdiscount on line 2. I swapped the port numbers around and now sipdiscount works with sip port 5061 on line 2. Sipgate on port 5060 line 1 now doesn't work - it won't connect at all so I think there's an issue with my port forwarding/router settings. I'll have a fiddle with that now.
Thanks everyone for your help.0 -
Sorted it.
I'd found that no service will work when the SIP port is set to 5060.
I came across this piece of info on the sipgate site. My router (Speedtouch 510) has a "SIP helper module" that isn't needed with the PAP2. It causes a conflict and therefore services set to use port 5060 won't work. I removed this SIP "bind" and I can now use Sipgate or SipDiscount on port 5060 with no issues
So if anyone has a Speedtouch router and is having problems, check this setting.0 -
I have setup pap2 with sipgate on line 1 and voip buster on line 2. Sipgate on line 1 works fine for incomming calls but however the voipbuster on line 2 gets online fine, I get a dialtone etc all fine but when I try to place a call I get an engaged tone (yes I am dialling 0044 etc). The dialing plan also does not seem to have an issue because when I just use a different voipbuster username and password it works a teat.
I would like to use the original username which is giving an engaged tone because it has been topped up to allow unlimited calls. Anyone help please.

Hm...
So you have two Voipbuster accounts, one works, one doesn't (engaged tone). Yet they both connect fine, right? How long have you had the accounts?
I had an issue with the engaged tone and I fixed it by sorting out the port forwarding on my router. What's your Internet setup?
My new Voipbuster account cannot login to sip.voipbuster.com, yet it works fine on sip.sipdiscount.com (for both proxy and outbound proxy). Try that. The credit from your account is carried over.
Would you be able to take a printscreen of your settings? Or just tell me the differences with my screens a few posts up.0 -
Right I have two Voipbuster accounts, one works (but has no ciredit), one doesn't - engaged tone (yet has credit). They both connect fine. I have had these accounts for around 3 months (both were created almost at the same time) and have been using the one which has credit from the voipbuster application on pc without any problems.
My internet setup is the PAP2 is in the DMZ of my router.
Could not get the screen print of the setting now but my seettings are:
proxy: sip.voipbuster.com
outbount proxy: blank
use outbound proxy: no
use outbound proxy in dialog: no
(slightly different to yours)
But the most confusing bit is with exactly the same settings one user (which has no credit) gets online fine, dial tone fine and am able to place calls fine for upto 1 minute obviously wheras the other user (which has credit) gets online fine, dial tone fine but am not able to place any calls (engage tone).0 -

There is also some talk of newer Voipbuster accounts being unable to work with hardware devices like the PAP2, as usage has soared since everyone's been using these unlocked PAP2s so they are disallowing it. It's just a rumour though, it might just be that new accounts take some time to be fully registered.
I can confirm that this is NOT the case. I signed up on Thursday evening to VOIPbuster, and I can make calls through the PAP2 I just received (and since unlocked) The only problem I have is that I can't hear the incoming voice... outgoing is fine. I suspect it is a router issue though... anyone know which ports need opening on a firewall? I've got 5060, 5061, 3478 and 10000... any more?
Cheers

To fix the problem of not hearing the remote person's voice do the following:
Look at the range of RTP ports defined on your PAP2 (in screen SIP section RTP parameters).
Forward that range of ports on your router to the PAP2's IP address.
If there is a large range of ports defined on the PAP2 that is not actually necessary - you can restrict it to a much shorter range (e.g. 8 successive ports) to make the router config simpler. I personally use 16384 ... 16391.0 -
Excellent! Thanks Graham. VOIPBuster now works properly... 2 way conversations for free!.
Now I have to find out why my sipgate.co.uk number always says it is busy all the time. I'm pretty sure I've got the main settings sorted,as when I make a call out it comes back and says I don't have enough credit (which is true), so I guess it must be a firewall setting again... anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

It was a problem last time, but I read on another forum that it was ok for new voipbuster accounts to register to the SIP server from yesterday.Lexis200 wrote:I can confirm that this is NOT the case. Last time, I also tried to restrict the range of the RTP ports and forwarded them to the PAP2, it worked fine. However, after that I used the stun.voipbuster.com, and nat.voiptalk.org:5065 (outbound), it worked fine with the default settings of RTP port range. So, I decided to use stun/nat since then.To fix the problem of not hearing the remote person's voice do the following:
