    Hello Docproc
    It is a Joint account although my wife has not been sent a password as yet. That doesn't seem to be of much consequence as I have had two passwords but still cannot get into our account. It has been open for just over a month.

    Apparently they set up a NEW DD for each fund transfer? Does that mean I am safe to delete all the redundant DD's they leave on my account. Very messy.
  • I dont think "safe" and "ICICI" should appear in the same sentence. Insist they compensate you for the loss of interest and compensate you for the stress, I did and got £25 thrown in. But best advice is to cancel all direct debits with them and NEVER reactivate them! Good luck
  • So as said, no problems with transferring money into linked account, in fact it arrives day before leaves my Barclays so one day "free" interest. Tried my first transfer back to Barclays, left ICICI Thursday, in Barclays Saturday morning. And yes I did check, it only debited the once!

    False sense of security! I transfered two amounts in one day to my linked account (due to the daily transfer limit). The lesser amount arrived in my linked a/c two days later...great. However the large amount took 3 weeks, and when I asked why, when the same procedure was used, with only seconds between the two requests they helpfully said "we dont know". After three phone calls on 3 consecutive days saying "it will be in your linked account today definitely because we will do it by CHAPS at our expense", it still didnt arrive.

    Thank you for that help line phone number amadwoman. That Mrs. Daya did eventually get me access to our account. Perhaps I should have fully taken in your mail, as I have allowed her to disregard the letter she should have got today, special delivery, asking for our account to be closed. They do seem to be desperate. She promises a phone call early in the New year to see how things are going. I reckon it would take quite a while before we would have the confidence to put any more in the account. Anyway, thank you again!

    no I do not have a "false sense of security"; I am just stating that not every ICICI customer has had problems. But then who wants to know when things go right, that doesn't generate headlines does it! :xmassign:
  • David Aston. Glad to help. If you want to close your account you have to e-mail your a/c manager from within your account, selecting heading "to close account". (that's if you can now access your a/c). Mrs Daya can not do it herself, but once you have made the request, she can monitor the closure. I know this to be true because I asked her to close it and she directed me as above.
  • HGLT Superstar, I thought the same, mine was a one off, but my husband then decided to close his account. They replied in the form of a questionare on why he was closing it which he answered. They then did nothing for 4 days. Afraid we had to ring Mrs Daya again! Her excuse? They got confused because they had thought he was refering to my account, (even though request was made from within his seperate a/c).
  • Fine you have had problems, but until I do, IF I DO, stop making me about to be naive and implying that I'm heading for a fall. If and when I do, then say "Told you so." In the season of peace and goodwill you should be glad that not everyone has had your misfortune, not wishing their downfall!

    I am 100% with you, HGLTsuperstar

    I am one of the 26% who voted "went through smoothly and quickly" - much to my surprise, I have to admit, after all the negative comments I had read here. Greed took the better of me, so I chanced it, and I have not regretted it so far.

    When you look at the poll, you can conclude that about every third person is having a bad experience....sounds about correct - amadwoman hasn't had a good time, you and I did! :j :j

    Positive/not negative: 55.29% 26.02% (went through smoothly and quickly), 23.58% (took a long time but is now set up fine), 5.69% (a bit tricky, a bit slow, but overall not bad)

    Negative: 30.89% 16.26% (absolute nightmare, lots of hassle, still not open), 14.63% (lots of hassle, open now, but still not running smoothly)

    Neutral: 13.83% 9.76% (only just applied), 4.07% (still in process, taking a long time)

    HGLTsuperstar + innovate = positive experience
    amadwoman = negative experience
    maddy, how about changing your username to something less angry, may be you'll have better luck then? :p
