Sandals Discount SCAM!

And to add to my previous post.
Maybe the Mail On Sunday Newspaper who featured a full page advert on the offer will have something to say on the fact that from last Sunday they were directing us, their readers to the sandals.co.uk website and entering THEIR voucher code of 'MOS08' to take advantage of these offers??? :mad:0 -
Out of interest, is this in any way connected with the Sandals/Beaches 2 for 1 promotion that was featured in last week's Mail on Sunday?
Sorry have just noticed that the OP said they booked a while back but if the MOS ran this last week there must have still been a number of 2 for 1 holidays available (the promotion referred to the higher class rooms between Sept and Dec iirc)0 -
Hi, yes it is an error on the 2for1 MOS bookings that seemed to combine another offer. it seems that errors happened when booking directly on the sandals website and when booking with them on the phone. I got a phonecall back from sandals yesterday but unfortunately they called on my mobile (not the landline that i had left in my message!) and i missed the call. I'll let everyone know how i get on tomorrow when i speak to a lawyer.
theres no way such a big company should make customers pay for their mistake!:T0 -
By the way sandals have taken the deposit from my credit card. I am going to try and get in touch with Ros the solicitor so i'll update everyone then:T0
-
I've just spoken to Pam Ros's secretary and she said that as i have an email confirmation with all the holiday details and price that is a contract and legally they have to supply the holiday at that price, I have to tell them i'll take this to a 3rd party of they do not. I can go back to Pam and Ros if that becomes an issue.:T0
-
That is brilliant news - keep us updated how you get on with Sandals!0
-
Thanks will do - when I can get a manager there to phone me back! Apparently they are in a meeting - perhaps about this very issue!
I take it you havent had a call yet. I dont have the newspaper article anymore and the t&c were never on the website, i dont suppose you have it and it says anything strange? usually it just says the offers advertised can't be guaranteed at that price not that they can change the price after you've booked!!:T0 -
No, I no longer have the newspaper. I don't even have an email confirmation either, just a booking reference number? I'm sure they would have had the disclaimer about prices though!
In reply to your previous post I was going to phone and ask for an email confirmation but instead I have went onto the Sandals website and 'checked in' on line for my holiday which resulted in a return email however no mention of prices.
Maybe I should phone and get that email before they managers come out of their meeting!
I can only hope that mine doesn't get cancelled and that they honour all your bookings - they have to for the sake of their name surely?0 -
thanks - cant see that any disclaimer could say they can charge you extra for the holiday after you've booked it though!
I think that they must have to honour the bookings - no way i'm going to cancel or pay more. I'll go back to the lawyer if they still refuse.:T0 -
On 02/06/08 Booked and paid deposit using credit card 2 for 1 Sandals holiday to Bahamas. On Friday had Email from Sandals stating I had to pay
nearly £900 more. Got legal advice on Sunday who stated they are in breach of contract and that the credit card company should help as they may be in breach of consumer credit act.
The company trying to screw us is Funway (see http://www.funwayholidays.co.uk/) email their head office in the states who are www.marktravel.com tell the press office that you will complain to the press.
Please complain about this to your credit card company, the Advertising Standards Authority, Trading Standards and the BBC Watchdog and local BBC radio consumer programme. I have also complained to Sandals but do not expect a reply.
I get Legal Help from my house insurance policy but it may be better if we join forces.
Good Luck - Trevor White0
