My code for the "free" MSE/uSwitch/Virgin case of wine came today. It said it was for £60 (the cheapest case available) but when redeemed was only worth £50.

£10 for a case of wine is no bad thing, but the marketing all along has promised a FREE case. I feel a bit misled.

    Hi,

It sounds like there's been a bit of a mix-up with your voucher - your wine should be free. If you'd like to drop me an email at the address in my profile I will try and get everything sorted out for you.

  • Hi-switch a year ago to Scottish Power. We are a year on & now see that EDF are better value. If we swap via the uswitch link on MSE can we claim AGAIN for the Virgin wine voucher? If not...is there any cash alternative? Sorry to be thick if I've missed something...!!

As long as it's over a year, you should be fine
(the terms limit it to a maximum claim per household of 1 per calender year).
Otherwise use a different site :)

very annoyed with this lot. filled the detials to get quote on switching leccie for my elderly mother (elec only sheltered housing -gas deedmed too dangerous !) did the same over a year ago, and ended up getting lots of cold calls from leccie companies..but none would say where they got my phone number from, I have been on the caller prefrence list for 5 yrs + and had more or less got rid of all callers apart from the odd one from overseas.

in the last three days Scottish Power, E-On and SWALEC have all called me (and calling me by my mothers name, as I entered her address detials but my email and phone) on asking where they got the number from, and we were on the caller pref list, eventually the nice man at E-On told me they got their info from U-Switch...now I dont recall a check box for not sharing with 3rd parties...and I am very careful about this, so asked the man to remove me from their list, and I now expect I will get more calls, and all with get the same satement.

to that end I will NEVER NEVER USE USWITCH again for price comparison...if you value your privicy, dont use them...
What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots

    Hi SuzySF,

We don't pass on customer telephone numbers to energy suppliers - your privacy is really important to us.

Also, we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot if we did - we want people to switch with us rather than going to the energy company directly because that's how we make a return.

If you could drop me an email at the address in my profile with a few more details I will look into how these companies got your number (and why E.On said that they got it from us!)

    Thanks

  • Hi

I am just about to move into my very 1st home after living with parents, but am not sure what provider i should go with for my gas & electric. The property already has pre-payment meters which i have decided to keep but don't know who to go for as the comparison sites are saying different all the time - please help :j
  • I switched dual fuel supplier through the MSE link and duly received my wine voucher from uswitch. My problems started when I tried to redeem the voucher. I followed the instructions supplied but the Virgin Wines system informed me that the voucher had already been redeemed. I emailed uswitch to ask for another voucher code and password but was told to take the matter up directly with Virgin Wines.
With some difficulty I managed to get them to honour the voucher. However, they then deducted a delivery charge from my account despite the voucher email from uswitch clearly stating thet 'I wouldn't be charged a thing' and 'Virgin Wines will arrange for free delivery of your wine'.
    This matter is still unresolved.

The company is often mentioned on the forum.

Whilst the majority of those who have used the company wouldn't fault them on the service they offer, most except the very low users or low users on PPMs have found they can certainly be beaten on price.

Use a comparison site to see just how many companies can beat them on price, and remember Ebico essentially sub-out all their billing & customer services to SSE ;)

I suggest you do some research on what a 'not for profit' company actually means as, based on your other post, you appear to be under some misapprehensions.

Have you seen just how much surplus they report annually???
