    Will ebay not help????

Afraid not, ebay only care about paypal transactions. Stories like this is what ebay will use to justify making paypal as the only payment option, when ever they do.

    1. Put the name and postcode of the seller (given in your email from ebay confirming your win) into something like 192.com and see if the seller is on the open electorial register at that address
    http://www.192.com/search/people.cfm

    2. Request the seller's phone number from ebay (they will provide the seller with yours too) and phone them - though see (a) above!

eBay can't help you, but it might be worth asking for address details. Contact the Lloyds, Barclays and the Police. No one is going to make it easy for you.

Post on the Community Q&A forum on eBay as there are a lot of knowledgable people there. Time, I believe, is of the essence.

I would definitely echo this, and also echo that all may not be lost.

We'll see what the day boys say tomorrow.

sorry, but this auction has scam all over it. 0 feedback, no pictures of the item, incorrect details (he has listed an n95 8gb with n95 original specs, as an example, there is no microSD slot on the 8gb.

Report him to Ebay ASAP, even if just for the listing violation (paypal in auction but refusing to accept it) if there hasn't been enough time for "item not received". Just get the report in as soon as possible.

I don't even know where to start without sounding unsympathetic.

Seller offers paypal and then refuses to take it, no feedback , no history no photos, wrong postage method quoted (recorded not special). I am surprised anyone would bid and then use a non safe method of payment.

I don't know what to say except try the police and be persistent. You almost certainly will never see your money again unless this seller is just stupid and not a scammer.

Please OP if you are going to continue to use ebay please hang around here for a while and learn how it works and how to protect yourself. Out of interest though I will ask one question as I am trying to understand how scammers manage to scam, when you chose to pay by bank transfer how did you think you were protected and by whom? Did you have any idea what you would do if phone didn't arrive?

My only positive thought is that the seller has responded to your emails which may be a good sign. However even if this seller is genuine as it was sent over 2 weeks ago and just migh tbe lost in the post then you are still stuck as seller only quoted for recorded delivery which of course is not suitable for phones.

lastly, very few people would have bought this phone even using paypal due to sellers non history.
