Walls Soft Scoop vanilla flavour ice cream
Label reads 84kcal for 100ml/45g (the g bit doesn't appear on the nutrition info on the back where I looked initially - but it's on the front)

100ml on my digital scales weighs 100g

So I take it I've eaten closer to 186 calories, not 84  Bit misleading, the ml thing... dry Ryvitas for tea then :rotfl:

Glad you're OK Wendy thanks for posting, I hope MrW has a better week next week.

Interesting - I'll have to start weighing things measured in mls/cal as I always assumed mls=gs.....
At least you had a few happy hours in oblivion missyg! lol

Yeh it was worth it and I've adjusted the rest of the day's intake so it's no problemo :p I doubt I'll get another ice cream urge for a long time so no biggie!

Good thing I checked though, or I might have gone on thinking that 100ml as weighed was 84 cal and kept having it, thinking it was a "bargain!"
  • 1 milli litre (1ml) of water weighs 1g. 1ml of something else would not weigh 1g it would depend on the density.

100ml of ice cream would be 20 teaspoons roughly. When you take medicine you have a 5ml spoon.

    Hope that helps.

    Evening all!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

I had my second last Japanese lesson this afternoon, I'm going to miss my lessons a lot - the teachers are awesome - however I plan to continue studying in Scotland.

Tonight, I've been addicted to "The Biggest Loser" - after watching a couple of episodes I have really come to realise that anyone can workout (I've always thought it was reserved purely for "fitness types"). If people over double my weight can do it - so can I! I'll be signing up for some fitness classes when I get home. :j
Cleared out my closet tonight and filled up 3 large bags of clothes  that I no longer need (that is I don't like them or they are too big for me :D ) - I'm taking them along to a special charity event tomorrow afternoon that one of my mates has organised. He's collecting clothes to ship to a charity in Africa. Perfect timing as I was needing a clear out before deciding which clothes to ship and which ones to put in with my regular luggage.

Next week is my last week at work. I'm devasted about this. I'm going to miss my kids sooooooo much. It's unbelieveable how much you get attached to the little rugrats. It's like I'm a second mother to 25 kids :rotfl: The mums at my previous school (same company different branch) have organised a Sayonara Party for me on the 6th so I'm really looking forward to seeing them all again (I taught their kids during my first 2 years in Japan).

wendy - great to hear from you. Sounds like you're doing well with your pc classes.

missyg - interesting news about the whole ice-cream calories thing - like Lesley I had always assumed mls=gs.

I've rambled enough now - well done if you've managed to read this far :p

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

    Thanks Wendy!

Lipgloss is my real life nickname (as I'm never seen without it :rotfl: ) however it was already taken so I opted for PinkLipgloss instead :D

...A few weeks back a number of you said about growing your own veg and I was wondering how you were all coming along. We've got tomatoes set, French beans (the runner variety) half way up the canes, courgettes flowering and set, cucumbers with tiny flowers at the mo, and a variety of herbs. They are all in planters, not the garden, and that way they are so easy to grow :j We've been doing things this way for a few years now for ease and I'm looking forward to some nice home grown salads again. Even if you don't like gardening this is a simpler way of doing thing and very rewarding :j ...

My idea of gardening is producing lots of colourful flowers, but DH prefers gardening you can eat, so as our garden isn't big enough to have flower beds and a vegetable plot, he grows veg in tubs - peas, runner beans, tomatoes, and he's trying beetroot for the first time this year. I've got absolutely no idea what you do with a raw beetroot, so I'll have to do some research when they're ready for harvesting!
