Hi Only just popping in I'm off to work in a minute and cannot access this site from work unfortunately.

I'm feeling a bit better, went swimming last night and although we didn't do any more lengths we did our 40 in less time than usual so I know I am improving. My clothes feel looser but not enough to drop a size so now they just look like they don't fit. I dont want to join a club my friend has done several and I know that way is not for me. She is supposed to be losing weight for her hols and I started at the same time as her but she is very demotivated as well at the moment.
I had hopped that by cutting out the rubbish and upping the excercise I would see a steady improvement but that is not the case. I make almost all my meals from scratch. Our family(4) are all veggie, I have tried to cut down on the cheese and up the beans for fibre and protein. I eat and enjoy salads at the moment using spinach as it is cheaper than lettuce. I eat raw veg and fruit as snacks and have a handful of brazil nuts everyday, I have allowed myself the odd birthcake for work collegue's birthdays but have mostly managed to avoid the extra treats brought in by boss and others. (I did have two cream cakes a couple of weeks ago.) I don't expect to lose great amounts this way but if you look at the chart you will see a great big 0 as my overall total.
You all seem to do so well and even after a slip you are back on track and making up. I feel I cannot post anything good so do not post. I haven't been on line the last couple of days and have only skim read 20 odd pages this morn. I should be free to catch up again on Sat so I will try read all the lovely post Sat morn and start next week afresh. I do so want to be able to join in. I used a link posted by someone on here (can't remember name) and it said I was obese. That did not feel good and I am determined to do something about it. I have a big 50 birthday in Sept and I want to feel good.
Sorry for the extra long post. Good luck to everyone.

Big hugs to you procrastinator, it sounds like you are not having a very good time at the moment!

I know it is dificult but do try not to worry too much about how you are doing. Reading your post it does sound as if you are on the right track. You are eating the right sort of foods, you are excercising and you have the incentive to do it with your birthday coming up.

So what if it takes you a while? So what if you ate a couple of cream cakes a couple of weeks ago? These things do not matter one little bit! You have noticed yourself that your clothes are getting looser - that is a positive thing. You have self awareness - that is a positive thing! You have the support of everyone on here - that is a positive thing!:A

Remember every journey starts with a single step - and you are already on the journey! If you have gone the scenic route which takes a little longer - SO WHAT!! Enjoy your self, enjoy your food and one day......

    Love and hugs

Delly, not suprised sw has had a slightly rocky start - it took me a week before I was on it properly (and I remember similar stories in class), so this is all normal. I didn't realise you had done it briefly before - hopefully this will help it all slot into place quicker. Re ajax's spaghetti comment, I find I have to be a little careful with pasta/rice portions myself and find red days suit me much better, though ever one is different. I do have green days but, like last night, serve up risotto in a pudding bowl for me as I find I am full very quickly on it. If you haven't already discovered it, muller light toffee yoghurt with sliced banana makes a fab free pud, or mid aft sweetsnack. Very filling and feels like you've had a treat.
Really sorry about your DS. As an adult I'm all for drugs to minimise suffering (having tried a miriad of alternative and spent thousands and nothing being hugely effective) so if there is something that helps your little boy, sounds like you are doing the right thing for you and him. My bro used to have severe asthma as a child and he was 10 when inhalers were developed and it transformed his life. I'm not suprised you panicked with your daughters asthma petrichor - watching your child struggle to breathe must be a nightmare. Love the sound of your veggie garden pet too. I'm just about managing a tub of lettuce:o .
Welcome to denisenz. We are truely going global. Haven't heard from our aussie friend recently (sorry your name temp escapes me:o )? And locally, have we heard from Wendy? Can't recall that we have. Hope she is ok...
Had a day off from watching what I eat on thurs - started off well but was dog tired, and after the 3rd person at work said 'are you ok you look shattered' (I felt it) I recued myself with a massive flap jack, which helped and decided to chill out later with comforting toast and b.u.t.t.e.r. It felt gooood. Happilly back on plan yesterday though an only had 1.5 syns so no feel:A .
Hope to mosey round a local country fair later.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    Hi,
I started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties.People used to glare at me when I went out and I really wanted to do something about it. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose any weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss product. I tried it out and it actually worked really well. Within 4 months I managed to shave off 65 pounds completely. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now without having to carry all that extra weight around. You can read more about the lady's article at the link below

  • Hi everyone,

procrastinator Don't worry, just keep going and you will get there! Remember, if you have upped your exercise, you will be increasing your muscle mass. Muscle is a lot heavier for its size than fat so this will explain why your clothes are looser but you haven't lost weight. You have lost fat though which is fantastic. Please please keep posting, I know where you're coming from because it was really difficult for me to post my 8lb gain! I felt much better when I did though, because then I could get things moving in the right direction again. For you things are moving in the right direction.

I think I have a cold - its always hard to tell when my hayfever is so icky, but I just feel completely wiped out! I went back to bed an hour after I woke up and then slept for another 3 hours!! Had another diet blip yesterday - Indian takeaway. OH wanted one, I'd forgotten to take anything out of the freezer and I was just too tired to argue or care! It was very nice though! Getting a bit fed up with blips though, so I will make extra effort not to give myself any excuses! Managed to finish all the yoghurts too - so they're out of the way. Too sugary I decided!

Quick question folks :o I have a tub of plain soft scoop vanilla ice cream which states 84kcal for 100ml - firstly doesn't this seem very low for ice cream? So I measured out just under 100ml using the ml setting on my digital scales and it came to three average-sized scoops. This seems a heck of a lot of ice cream for (just under) 84cal?

It's the first time I've had ice cream since I've been calorie counting, I've eaten it now so it's too late :rotfl: but have I done something wrong? Do I need to fast for the rest of the day :rotfl: Help appreciated :)

It depends on the make - that does sound a bit low but it may be a lower fat one...I would just enjoy!
In my calorie book it said for weight watchers vanilla iced desert it was 154 for 100ml/50g - that surprised me as I thought 1ml usually equaled 1g..... how much did 100ml weigh on your scales?
Even if it was wrong you're probably only 80 calories or so out!

Good exercise today, though not in the usual way  Washing machine has packed up so I've done the whole week's worth by hand. Exhausting... and now the dilemma of do I pay a call out to see if I can get it fixed or just bite the bullet and get a new one? Ho hum.

I've ordered a Cannons gym day pass through Nectar Points so that I can have a good blast on the treadmill and other stuff, and a nice swim/sauna/jacuzzi sometime in the near future :) I can take a friend too so that will be cool, if I can find one who'll set foot in a gym :rotfl:

Delly I hope your son has only a mild case. As for the medicine he is your son and you know best what he needs, end of story :)

Pet, I have a veg patch in my garden for the first time this year, which the grandparents came over and prepared when my son was showing an interest in growing veg... I've had nothing to do with it (and it's probably best I stay out of it because me and gardening don't get along), but I will post an update if we get some good stuff! :D

We haven't heard from Wendy for a few days BB and I was thinking the same...

Thanks Lesley, I'll go and see what the brand is but I'm sure it's not low cal as I bought it for my son not me and he needs fattening up, he's actually LOST weight even though he eats at least twice as much as I do  I didn't weigh the 100ml in g, but I think I will assume 160 cals for what I ate anyway, that sounds more like it, it tasted too good to be only 84 :rotfl:
