Aww pet I bet youre a right cutie!

Vix, it will be the shortest trip to a wedding reception in history for me.

Tagz bailey is a bit of an old boy now and has arthritis. He's really been limping the last couple of days.... he still acts 2 years old when you pick up a toy of his though

.....as far as you're concerned, nothing from now on :rotfl: . Your team was the first to be knocked out :(

This weekend is the brother-in-law's wedding but I'm pretty narked with them at the moment. MrsA's parents moved to live close to us, and now her brother and his wife to be have done the same. That's cool. They decided they'd have a barbecue tonight for just the family (6 of us in total), so they're inviting four family members and the instruction came bring your own beer. I couldn't believe it. Bring your own beer is something you say to 30 strangers, not four family members. Tight gits!! It's always us who has the parties and they are quite happy to come along and drink anything they can find in the fridge, staggering out down the road. Being veggie I was even taking my own Quorn tonight, being mindful not to take the pee!! "We're having a party, you're invited - we're just not providing anything for you!!!". What about the wedding tomorrow, do I bring my own poxy buffet as well?!?!

So I'm not going tonight! :D Just me and Bailey sharing the sofa and a bottle of a nice French red whilst watching the US Open with the house to ourselves. Bliss!!

Or am I missing something here??

You'd be surprised how many people are out there like that - happy to accept your hospitality but not willing to offer it.

OH's best mate got engaged and we received a posh printed invitation that ended with 'Bring a bottle - why not make it something sparkling' :rotfl:

Same dudes came to stay with us one weekend and I made a true british cooked breakfast, the plate was massively piled high with sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, beans etc and when put in front of him he didn't even say 'thank you' just 'have you got any toast'

Hey ho! Makes the world go around

    Hi folks,

SW started out well but has taken a nosedive I haven't been at all prepared and need to get to the supermarket to stock up on some free foods. (thanks for the tip about the spaghetti ajax although I don't think my OH will thank you for the beans). I was called by the creche to pick up DS after lunchtime yesterday as he had chickenpox. Literally the last one in the nursery to get it.

Bless him, it was all a novelty yesterday - hunting for spots and stuff but he's mega cross today (for him that is). He's still quite pleasant but I'm finding I need to keep on top of the whole calpol/piriton syrup thing or he gets really unpleasant. I have to admit, I'm the type of mummy who believes in giving him medicine when he's sick and not just making him suffer (I know of others who don't think it's necessary).

Lois - I love your avatar and your sig - it's exactly the thought process you should be having. Focus on how you want to look, how much better you'll feel etc. rather than focusing on how unhappy you are at the minute.

Hope you're all doing well. Day one for me tomorrow. it's just as well my WI day has changed to wednesdays.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

england v new zealand on tv at 5pm!!!! well good stuff.

Are we talking cricket or rugby?? If cricket then I hope YOU enjoyed it, Vix, because I certainly didn't. Have just watched the highlights -

Will be watching the rugby tonight, and hoping for a better result!

So - weightloss wise - I would like to lose 15kg - 33lb. That would not take me to my WW goal weight, but I think is a bit more realistic.

I bought no chocolate yesterday, ate no ice cream, but did have one too many pieces of citrus slice. Baby steps LOL

Walked the dogs this morning, but I've had a problem with my knee for about 6 weeks now, and the Dr says there is nothing wrong with it, so my walking certainly isn't the speed that it used to be.

I'm a member of Curves, but haven't been there for about six weeks, either, because of the knee. It's very frustrating.

Lois - I love your avatar and your sig - .

    ...I must start to read people's sigs :o:o ...

...Delly I hope your little boy isn't suffering too much, my DD managed to miss chickenpox. I used to give her any medicine going, within limits obviously, as I couldn't bear to watch her suffer at all, which wasn't easy as she was asthmatic. A couple of times she was rushed by ambulance from school to hospital and I was the typical panicky mother that was near to requiring a couple of hefty slaps :o I kid you not :o luckily she grew out of the asthma, at least we think she has 5duds4.gif...

...A few weeks back a number of you said about growing your own veg and I was wondering how you were all coming along. We've got tomatoes set, French beans (the runner variety) half way up the canes, courgettes flowering and set, cucumbers with tiny flowers at the mo, and a variety of herbs. They are all in planters, not the garden, and that way they are so easy to grow :j We've been doing things this way for a few years now for ease and I'm looking forward to some nice home grown salads again. Even if you don't like gardening this is a simpler way of doing thing and very rewarding :j ...

...I'm now off to plant the rest of my bedding plants (terribly behind with that) in what little plantable garden we have. I did the front garden on Wednesday and even MrP was pleased with it (otherwise he'd have to do it himself ;) )so now the side garden, it's great exercise which is what I need at the mo. Sorry, I'm babbling, so I'll leave you in peace and quiet for a few hours ...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Ooooh thats a great idea - I'm def going to give that a try when I get home.

Out of interest how does it work out cost wise - when you look at buying seeds, soil, tools etc - compared to supermarket prices? I have no idea of supermarket prices in the UK mind you - are veggies still pretty cheap?

Also - is it difficult? I've never tried growing anything other than house plants!
