hi guys.
battling a stomach bug so didnt do my weights last night (feel bad too, i like doing them although its not that hard work, its only light weights)
i have made the decision to go on the bike tonight no matter what!
i also am only going to have 4 beers tops (dowm from about 9-14 on a friday night) so that i can still enjoy my beer, i may even just have 2 and make them into shandies to last (with no sugar lemonade etc)
will see how it goes.
but i love my booze.
got to work on a new pic! will post one from Oct last year and one now as soon as i do them.
grats to all the losers (ps does anyone watch The Biggest Loser on Sky Real Lives channel 253, i love that show have watched it for years!)0 -
Morning all.
Boo hoo hoo My eldest has his last A level exam this morning and then he is no longer in school!! I suddenly realised that I won't need to get his uniform ready anymore or go to the school for open evenings for him. It's the end of an era. I'm lucky though that he is going onto Art College here in London so he won't be leaving home just yet. I'm so proud of him but sad at the same time! Must try and resist the urge to comfort eat!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
anytime you want to comfort eat.
go and eat dirt.
i bet you wont want to comfort eat anymore.
and watch out for those worms!0 -
You'll always be his yummy mummy so no need to comfort eat as you need to stay yummy!!

Morning everyone!
Congratulations on your fantastic loss Loopylass! Is that in one week?!
Hello DeniseNZ, welcome! Very thought provoking postI lost my weight on no particular plan but just kicking bad habits and starting some good ones, so it can definitely work! As the weight got a lot tougher to shift towards the end, I started calorie counting which finally got me to target.
Thanks for posting up your pics Louise! I love the glam oneA nice soft light source can definitely be a girl's best friend
Well done on the loss and SOTW
Well done on STS Molly even though you thought you would gain! Proves you were still doing something right this week to make up for the birthday!
Mzdotokay - you're recognising it's more a habit than a dependency so that's a good start! My crisps habit was kicked by cutting them out completely for eight months while I lost the weight, introducing the lower cal version back (very much in moderation) now I am at target. I didn't look upon it as a sacrifice, just an investment in my healthI know that method doesn't work for everyone though.
Still more to catch up on... back in a bit!0 -
Hiya Procrastinator thanks for posting. It does sound like you are doing a good job of cutting out junk and upping the exercise
If the clothes are looser you must be losing inches! You're not gaining weight, which is a big positive as well! I really don't think it's all bad news
If you have a healthy calorie intake that is below what your body is using up, I can't see why you wouldn't lose weight over time even if it's taking a little longer than usual to get off the starting blocksI know it's demotivating for you though, we all hate it when our efforts aren't rewarded
What about giving yourself a deadline of say 6-8 weeks and if things really aren't moving by then, it's time for Plan B. I know you don't want to join a slimming group but what if you say Plan B is a slimming group? It might be enough to make you ensure you never have to use it?
Another thought I had was to make sure there are no medical reasons or medications preventing you from losing weight?
Please do keep posting, you've probably noticed we talk about all sorts on here, not just what the scales are saying!0 -

I'm feeling a bit better, went swimming last night and although we didn't do any more lengths we did our 40 in less time than usual so I know I am improving. My clothes feel looser but not enough to drop a size so now they just look like they don't fit. I dont want to join a club my friend has done several and I know that way is not for me. She is supposed to be losing weight for her hols and I started at the same time as her but she is very demotivated as well at the moment.
I had hopped that by cutting out the rubbish and upping the excercise I would see a steady improvement but that is not the case. I make almost all my meals from scratch. Our family(4) are all veggie, I have tried to cut down on the cheese and up the beans for fibre and protein. I eat and enjoy salads at the moment using spinach as it is cheaper than lettuce. I eat raw veg and fruit as snacks and have a handful of brazil nuts everyday, I have allowed myself the odd birthcake for work collegue's birthdays but have mostly managed to avoid the extra treats brought in by boss and others. (I did have two cream cakes a couple of weeks ago.) I don't expect to lose great amounts this way but if you look at the chart you will see a great big 0 as my overall total.
You all seem to do so well and even after a slip you are back on track and making up. I feel I cannot post anything good so do not post. I haven't been on line the last couple of days and have only skim read 20 odd pages this morn. I should be free to catch up again on Sat so I will try read all the lovely post Sat morn and start next week afresh. I do so want to be able to join in. I used a link posted by someone on here (can't remember name) and it said I was obese. That did not feel good and I am determined to do something about it. I have a big 50 birthday in Sept and I want to feel good.
Sorry for the extra long post. Good luck to everyone.
I can so identify with you - it's fiddly but you may find it beneficial to count calories for a few days just to check that you are not going over what you are using.
I was exactly the same - everyone around me was losing- even on weeks they seemed to be naughty, and I was plodding on exercising and eating healthily and sts.
I started counting calories just under 2 weeks ago and have lost 4lbs and counting.
Just seeing the scales move downwards a little bit after months (even years) of them staying the same or creeping up is the biggest boost.
Just know you are not alone - so many of us can identify with you.
I am not a fan of organised clubs - I have been to sw, and whilst it works for many I really want to take charge of my 'problem' this time and do it myself, so I know where you are coming from.
You can do it!:A

Lesley, wasn't there a survey thing recently that said that people who estimate their calories will underestimate by about 30%, but when it's a meal out they underestimate by 60% or more?!
It's very easy to eat 2500/day without realising it. I used to eat a whole bag of Haribo Starmix on a long car journey, and that would be over 700 calories  I had to skip a whole meal at the weekend to make up for the half milky bar I ate  (and previously I might have eaten all of it!) Also the little things add up don't they - spread on your toast, ketchup, juice, milk, a biscuit... and what's with raisins being as calorific as cheese!
Then again there are some things which aren't the calorie horrors you think they might be.... a curly wurly or a fudge is only 115!Jaffa Cake 50!

Sounds very good to me depending on pennies:o
beanie,
What area are you in?
I'll hopefully be living in the west end of Glasgow as I really want to be within easy reach of the uni. We'll start flat hunting after we arrive in Scotland on the 15 July.

I am obsessed by it. I have downloaded and watched seasons 1 - 5 of the US version and am now on my second Australia's Biggest Loser. I watch it on my ipod to and from work.
This was the main motivator for me to get on the treadmill actually and it has really taught me that many of my limitations are in my head and are not physical. If they can do it, i can too. Love it, love it, love it....!0
