Yes - we have a travel potty (calleda potette) which was invaluable for when we were on the aeroplane, just taking off and I hear 'I need a wee-wee' when the seat belt lights are on and will stay on. Argh! lift her up, put portable potty underneath her, job done! Wcares about the stares?

Hope London isn't too sweltering Lois, poor you. The underground on a hot day - ugh. Let us know how you get on.
Don't ask....
Well, since you did, it was as hot as I imagined and as crowded, so pretty uncomfortable, but London is lovely in the sunshine. I've only been back for 40 minutes though - 2 hours later than expected as there were major delays on the west coast main line tonight.
Just running a bath now - to soak my sore feet and wash off the grubbiness!

Missyg - wow - 10k!! You made me laugh when you said you had jogged it and not ran it. Is there a massive difference as I think I amd only just jogging!!!
Went to the gym last night, aqua fit tonight and gym again tomorrow...we did our toning outside again last night, and I think inhaling pollen from some lovely clover whilst doing press ups didn't really help with the asthma. When I commented on this we all collapsed giggling in a heap - does that count as exercise??
Brighton Belle - I have a finnish pen friend and speak very very little finnish, but will have a look tomorrow and see if I can find my vocab book.It does sound Finnish but Hingarian and Turkish are in the same family.
Off to bed now as the builder is coming early tomorrow to fit our new gates - very exciting for us!!
Hope everyone is doing well - I will get weighted in trepidation tomorrow....

Brighton_belle wrote: »Ah, how interesting. Well we had a wonderful wooden boat as a family when I was young called 'satu marru' and we always understood it was a japanese name. But someone told me this afternoon that 'satu' is a girl's Finish name meaning 'fairytale' which is rather lovely but doesn't explain the marru bit so I suddenly thought to check what turns out to be a myth re our boat's name...
I've just checked on a baby name website and it says Satu is Scandinavian for fairytale, and a Finnish translation of Saga, which is Japanese!
Nothing for Marru thou.

Hi All
My name is Lainie (Elaine) i'm a 33 yr old single parent of two , after reading lots of the posts over the past few days i wondered if it would be possible if i could join again (i was a memeber ages ago).
Life had its ups and down as it does for all and without realising how it happened in a way(i know it was what i ate but i didnt realise how big i had gotten) Last year at this time i was in severe pain because of my weight , i was unable to walk to the kitchen before i was ready to collaspe and i started to live on takeaways etc. i refused to leave the house as i felt i was part of a freak show and the pain became unbareable , after a wake up call from my mam i started to cut down and move more , it is the hardest thing i have ever had to put myself through but i aslo new i had to do it as the other option was death which wasnt an option.
i built myself up everyday by walking a little further untill i could get to the gate and back and then the end of the street and back etc till eventually i started to go to the shops etc and yes people did stare and still do and sometimes they even make comment (look at the size of her etc) all through this time there was no where i could be weighed or so i thought , Anyway i went way of track for a while with the diet side of it and i new i needed to do something so i rang weightwatchers and they said there scales went up to 38stone so praying that i wasnt over that i went to the my first meeting , i stood on the scales with such hope and when she said 36stone 2lb i was so pleased it sounds really stupid saying that but i had visions of 38 stone plus and a big error sign coming up on the scales , so i felt like i'd lost stones already which is a bonus start anyway i started the points plan and up and in 3 weeks i have lost 13lbs ( i get weighed again today) so here i am again making a stand i have to learn its eat to live , not live to eat , i want my life back and i'm taking it with both hands , for a long time i thought i was worthless and some sort of evil monster because all i could see was the fat but now i know i am a nice person , i am worth it (dont sue me loreal) and i do love myself i dont like what i have done but i do forgive myself for it , whats done is done , its what i'm gonna do next that matters.
thankyou for listening i know it was a bit long
Take care all

you sound very determined lainie - welcome to our thread - you'll find lots of advice and more importantly, support. There are quite a few peeps doing ww so i'm sure they'll especially be able to help you.
Reporting in with a 0.4kg loss this week - v pleased. However, I've achieved this by cheating really - looked back at my food diary to find several days where I've not eaten any fruit or veg and saved all my calories to have things like fishfinger butties for tea; or worse, days where I've had 2 bowls of cereal and bowl of packet chicken noodle soup so i can use practically all my calories for chocolate. I've learnt some lessons though - portion control being one, and not eating for the sake of it which i think will be good for me.
So next week I'm phasing SW back in. The plan is to go to red and green days but keep the cals limited and then gradually stop looking at cals. I think if i saw a gain in the first week it would upset me immensely.
hope you enjoyed your cider granny! good luck with wi everyone.0 -
Hi Lainie, welcome to this fab thread, I have great admiration for you, 13lbs in 3 weeks is fantastic :T :T :T
I'm a relative newbie here too (I don't post often as I am trying to stay away from the pc for a while), been on the points plan myself for about 5 weeks and all is going well.
Hope everybody else is ok, I seem to have missed out on this whole thread so I hope you are all doing well. I can report a 3lb loss this week, not sure where that one came from as had no time to exercise properly and had a drink or 2, so really really pleased, 4lb more and that's my first stone gone, I've booked myself an appt at my local Toni & Guy for a fab new haircut in 2 weeks time so that is my incentive to lose the 4lb and reward for when I have0 -
