Lose Weight 21

Tagz, well done, what an achievement :T
Lesley, I totally agree with the analogy of food to alcohol with an alcoholic - I am okay all the time I am abstaining from all things 'yummy and fattening' but as soon as I have a 'little bit' I just want more.
BB, I saw a programme during the week about a young girl who had lost alot of weight and still intended to lose more. I sat there thinking - is she crazy, can't she see how thin she is? Her boyfriend wanted her to stop as he was happy when she was a healthy size 12 - I could see that he was right. However, I can also see how she has fallen into this trap of weight loss - I'm glad I've got you guys to 'talk' to and keep me 'real'.
Missyg, well done on the breakfast trials, I really can't see how you can eat so little, do so much and not disappear.

delly - when I said your sis - in -law would make me cross, I actually meant **** livid! I'm glad you f-in-l is able to help you out, but how uterly stupid to commit to such extravagence when she is already struggling. Bet you weren't too happy with OH:o .
Good luck with the house training!
FFM - gosh that sounds so tough - lots of:grouphug: for your honesty and for tackling the whole food thing so well so far. What is very good is that you did recognise last week that you needed to put some weight on - that took great courage and I hope we can always offer the support you need and deserve.
Back to plan (red day)for me today an trying to keep to a few a syns as possible:- Late Bkfast:Salmon (finishing off left overs in fridge) and beetroot - yum.
- lunch: Baked pot with v low fat cottage cheese & HEb mature cheddar, chopped ham and salad for lunch.
- dinner cottage pie with celeriac, carrot and swede topping (know as victory topping chez bb:D )& green beans. (1 syn for gravy)
- Snacks of fruit. HEb of toast or wheetbix before bed.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Well done BabyKat! That is certainly a good price for the cross trainer & treadmill, Tagz (when you've got your breath back!) - isn't that the cross trainer you ended up buying?
BB snap, I'm having a 'take it easy' day too, glad to hear you've had such a great 2 days! You're so right that everyone's maintaining is different just as the weight loss is. I think everyone knows very well that my personal struggle is that I can't seem to strike the right balance with calories and exercise, and end up putting in massive effort for little or no results. My latest 8-week battle to lose 1.5lb is almost absurd :rotfl: but I'm learning to be a lot more patient with my body, to appreciate that it's probably clinging to the lbs for a reason (my exercise no doubt), to acknowledge that I'm feeling great regardless of the fact that I can't seem to make a target on the scales, and that THIS IS IT - this is what I spent most of last year losing weight for... and I'm bloomin' well gonna enjoy it!
Got the email thank you Bails! Breakfast experiment came from a study I read about in my magazine (and a similar link which was posted on here), basically saying that eating 24%-50% of your daily intake at breakfast dissuades your body from storing the rest of the day's intake as fat. So I'm giving that a go, and it seems having a little extra fuel on board earlier may be helping with my exercising and energy levels - early days yet though
FFM - did you notice the 42% brekkie today?! :rotfl: That's my highest so far but it's weigh in tomorrow so I thought I'd give an extreme one a go!
Right, time for a bit of wii fit fun I think0 -
missy - I've just seen your avatar -I loved the tour de franc when it was on channel4. They used to do brilliant coverage and I was glued to my telly at 6pm every day for 3 weeks every July ...bliss. I was gutted when they stopped covering it. I went to see one on the stages when it was in the uk in 94. I would love to be at L'Alpe D'uez one day. here do you get to see it now?
Edit: thinking about it,I could get access to a freeview box: would that give me a view of it ?(though I like a highlight prog rather than live feed)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
missyg, now that you mention it, what on earth did you eat for 525 calories?

It is a bit like being an alcoholic, but they can avoid and stop their addiction, as a food addict we still need to eat our 'fix' to stay alive - it is so much harder to moderate than stop I think!!
I had this argument with my brother about his smoking, we had agreed a challenge - he would give up smoking and I would lose weight.
I said that it would be easier for him as all he has to do is avoid cigarettes, I still have to eat so the temptation is always there (he disagreed of course!)

Tagz ...
wow and wow again. You must be thrilled --- a marathon next year?
Delly .... you might not have done the race for life but in my experience the race for wee needs to be pretty fast too. My DGD is 'trained' but still has the odd accident so when she says 'I need', I RUN.
Well I couldn't find a shop selling zimmer frames so I bought a cycling helmet instead. It's bright purple (and I mean BRIGHT) and shiny. I look like a beetle. I got the bike out of the garage and rode it for almost 2 miles. Actually 1.77 miles but 2 sounds better. I don't know how long it took me because I was too [STRIKE]excited[/STRIKE] terrified to think about looking at the time. The really good thing was that I stayed on the road (and on the bike!) the whole way. I find the cars very scarey so the temptation to ride on the pavement was huge.
And I went to the pool yesterday and did my physio exercises. I have arthritis in the base of my spine and the physio has told me to walk in the water whilst tightening various muscles. Sounds stupid but I find it much harder than swimming.
You've shamed me into it, you fitness enthusiasts (you know who you are) ... I'll be publishing my stats when the fear factor decreases and allows me to think about things like times.0 -
FFM - *ahem* 4 slices of toast and a yoghurt drink
Ah, BB the good old Channel 4 days with Phil LiggettIt was a perfect round up wasn't it? Freeview should get you a daily highlights programme on ITV (perhaps ITV2) this year, I'll check that out. I've been out to a few of the bike races in France & Spain in my time... even been up Alpe D'Huez (in my car!) Col Du Galibier is my fave though
Good for you Sooz about the swimming AND the weights! Congratulations on the promotion too.
Granny is that REALLY you posting about two lots of exercise?!!! :j I agree, the cars are scary when you're a cyclist, I hate that part of itAnyway nice to have you over on the dark side
