vix - a mtg brokers is someone who 'brokes' a mtg: that means they get you the best mtg on offer tailored to your individual circumstances. It is not one size fits all with mtg's. Certainly in the past, the banks and bs saved the best deals for just the brokers to offer, though in the currant climate no one knows what will happen there. I work for an independent finaicial advisor - this means they are independent of any bank etc so you get unbias recommendations and they also offer pension/investment and life cover advice. Obviously, as with any sector you are going to get bad uns, so if you can get a personal recommendation from anyone you know who has used a particular one that is good.
Missy - I go off in to fantasy land in millets - start planning the 'it's never going to happen' uk backpacking tour the moment I'm in one:rotfl: . I love all the camping gear and the cute cooking stuff. I'd love a little fire in the back garden to do alfresco cooking, as we could pretend we're camping. Thinks - must see what I can do about that.
lysasparlkles - well done, that is a great start:T .

and you never get used to not being the youngest any more. My nephew gets married in Aug and I still think of myself as the youngest in the family!

FFM - breakfast ended up being 20% today :D It was a very good day, I had generously allowed myself some extra calories to compensate for a bigger lunch, but came in at 159 under what I had allowed, simply because I was plenty full enough! This is unusual, I would normally use every possible calorie! :p How did you get on?

Missyg, my 376 calorie breakfast only ended up as 14% of my total calories because of my rather large lunch at La Tasca (it was rather nice though). Total calories 2682.

Yesterdays 376 = 17% of total, my downfall was the chocolate fudge cake. Total 2194 cals.

I am not sure a large breakfast would assist me in weight loss, but as I am not trying to lose weight that is not a problem. Although, if I carry on like this I will be.:rotfl:

I am back to work tomorrow where the only temptation is the occasional meeting with lunch provided, or birthday cakes. I shall take my usual fruit for my snacks and drink lots of water – having had 3 days ‘indulging’ I feel I need to get back on the wagon.

    FFM :)

Wow, I wish! Unfortunately not enough room in the garden!! Besides, one with an engine in would be nicer - I don't ask for much do I?:p

My second "easier" choice was Astrophysics:rotfl: .

Tried to count calories - managed 1400 ish yesterday, but today got up to 700 then had a chinese, so off the scale calorie wise! Didn't get home til 7:30 though and am completely exhausted! I think I'll munch my way through the last of the soothers and porridge tomorrow, then get back to carb counting - it's so much easier - only goes up to 30 for a start:rolleyes: .

moring all. feel like poo this morning stayed up till stupid oclock playing on a friends wii. Not happy about about my miifit - it's a right little porker. I was playing rabbids which was quality.

reverse plank? go and wish your mouth out missy, that's disgusting. I think the reps is to make it more achievable.

Bbelle, ifyou click the recipe link on page 1 it brings up the single post of indexed recipes. Go to the top right of the page where it says - from thread losing weight recipe collecrtion(or somthing similar) and click on that. That should take you into the whole thread. The curried chicken salad is page 7, #140.

I like cooking on a fire too bbelle - i've got a lovely iron fire tray for the mudd-yevel thing that lives int he garden when the weathers good and we often get it going and cook on it. The neighbours can sometimes get stroppy though.

Suggs Well done for signing up for the 10k run, it ill be a fabulous achievement for you to complete it :j You wouldn't have dreamt it possible 2 years ago, so even to contemplate it is an achievement itself :j ...

...Raph Those pics were lovely, as is Shadow; walking with a dog is so much nicer than just walking on your own...

...BB I had my first spam email about 2 weeks. It purported to be a security check thingy from Natwest and wanted me to click on a link and enter my usual log in details :rotfl: the link bore no relevance to anything banking. It was very convincing though, but it didn't fool me, besides the fact that I have never banked with Natwest!! I reported it as spam and it immediately disappeared from my inbox:j . Now I've had one I suppose there will be more, but I'm very careful and wary, besides, I have a different email address which I use solely for important business...

...RE Wimby - Rafa :happyhear is on this afternoon, followed by Murray:j ...I'm surprised  that I've given the impression that I have a dislike of Roger 'the git' Federer  :rotfl: I'll explain later Vix, but it is just purely personal  ...

...I promise to do a post this week that actually deals with losing weight :rotfl: ...SYL...

Hi ya - missed out on last weeks weigh in - just a bit hectic at home.

Last time I was 15st 10, now 2 weeks later I am 15st 9 3/4. at this rate I will reach my target in Jun 2011, when I was aiming for something this decade.

I shall claim that as a STS for this week and last week.
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Efrieze, dont get too excited, my prime objective is to complete the 10km, not run it all. I certainly will be aiming for that, but a decent time will suffice. I bow to yourself and missy for getting out there and running. There is a world of difference from running on a treadmill and running outside, the uneveness of the surface and the wind are just two. :)

It is different, but in a nice way. Yes the surface is uneven but you are watching the world go by as you run (literally!) and you have the wind in your face making you feel less sweaty! Plus, it is much harder to give up when you are on the road because you generally need to get back to where you started (unlike on the treadmill where you can just turn it off) so once you have started, you need to finish the circuit.

I was very impressed with myself last night. My friend who I go running (outside) with cancelled on me and despite DH wanting me to stay home and tidy up the house (!), I went out for a run ON MY OWN. I know many of you do this but this was a massive achievement for me. I have NEVER been for a run on my own before. I chose a longer route for a change so I completed 5.9km in 38 minutes. It's not a great time but I still felt a fantastic sense of achievement especially as I did not stop running the whole time.

My friend cancelled on me cos she couldn't be bothered. After just 5 hours sleep and a full day's work (post weekend away), I made myself be bothered....and I will definitely do it again. It is addictive and I intend to build up to a 10km run in the not too distant future.

    Hey everyone!

Well FFM, we've already found a problem with the big breakfasts, it just isn't possible/sensible for them to be a higher % on days when other meals are bigger than usual! ;) Glad you had a lovely meal yesterday, hope all goes well back at work :D

I do like the idea of a more filling breakfast, I think this can only be a good thing on exercise days (which is most days for me at the moment). More fuel to burn early on and so hopefully less chance of my body clinging on to everything?

I've deliberately eaten more this morning because I'm planning a 15km bike ride & 5km run before lunch. It will be between 31-33% of the day's intake, I'll confirm after I've finished for the day :rotfl:

KPC... lol... thank you for the motivation with the Plank - I went for the 180 last night and got it! Don't think I could even hold 20 seconds the first time I ever did that :o so it shows all the work is paying off!

Efrieze what a wonderful post, well done on the longer distance and running alone, and for getting out and doing it when you had genuine reasons not to. I love hearing about everyone's achievements on this thread, there have been some amazing breakthroughs and hopefully loads more to come! Can't wait to follow your progress up to 10km!

Which leads me nicely onto my question for the runners - are you wearing any special cushioned socks, trainer insoles or anything like that, and if so do they help - either for comfort or performance?

I once had an email from 'Paypal' telling me my credit card attached to my account had expired and could I enter new details. My card was still in date so I ignored it, and never received another email, so I assume that was phishing.

Well done efrieze :T I go running on my own only because I have no running buddy. I do take Shadow out thou, she seems to enjoy it.
It is addictive and gives you a great smug glow after. :D
