having joined the facebook thing i can only go onto annes profile. Oh yeas im in the know. Ive had a good snoop round and im just checking out where lois works.
is it for stroke victims? is victim the right word there. sufferers?
Haha - it just proves there's no anonymity on Facebook! :rotfl:
Yep, I work for a charity that supports younger stroke survivors (we consider the victims to be those that didn't make it and are now six feet under). The charity was lucky to be one of those selected to benefit from MoneySavingExpert funding and we've received over £20k from them as a result. :j

Apparently (according to something I read in Top Sante last week), interval training is the best way to lose weight, i.e. doing short bursts of high impact/intensity exercise followed by longer periods of low impact. The example they gave was running for 30 seconds, followed by walking for 4 minutes, but I'd imagine cycling uphill, then cruising downhill would be much the same. I was thinking even I might be able to attempt to run for 30 seconds - gives you chance to recover anyway!

FFM, Hilly route is definitely a better workout, much tougher. I know when I cycled to York and was doing 50 + miles/day, my average speed was 2mph less on the hilliest day (lots of walking). I think on that day it dropped to 6mph - barely more than walking speed  .

Stoppppppppp!!! You're torturing me!
I spent most of my teens planning to do a degree in aeronautical engineering, and then, a couple of weeks before the UCAS forms had to be handed in, a friend of my Mum's told me that it was the hardest degree there was, and I chickened out. I threw myself into my second choice (and am quite happy with it thakyou), but there has always been a pang of regret every time I'm reminded of what could have been *Sigh*. morning all - those muffins really attacked me yesterday so i shall try to be extra good today. Bbelle, i was very glad not to wear the shields in public! Glad to hear you are getting some use out of your glasses though! The curried chicken salad recipe is post 140 on page 7.
The laser eye surgery was quite scary, but I've hated my glasses for as long as i can remember. I worked out that having it done at the time I did it, I actually saved money compared with buying glasses and contacts for hte next 10 years - assuming my eyes don't deteriorate in that time. It is a risk, and I did have complications which resulted in having to have an eye redone but overall, it was definitely worth it.0 -

Morning all, just popping in quickly, lots of cycling on the forum today!
I cycle to get around, not usually more than 5-6 mile return journeys though, that's enough for me, lol.
I hope you're all well, I'm good, having a 'light' day as I have to study lots the next weeks, so lots of sitting at a desk. Though of course I'll be walking tha dog and hope, if I'm good (aka focussed), I'll squeeze in a bit of allotment time.
Today for me is,
Brekkie: strawberries and a smidgen of museli
Lunch: h/m smoothie. I'll have an egg if I get really hungry
Tea: s/c bean casserole and rice
Snacks: lots of water, grapefruit juice, raw veggies (good to munch on at the pc), and a few nuts for the brain power.
Hopefully a few light days will give my metabolism a kick start, and keep me positive
Have a good one guys, Jay xxAnytime;)0 -
