As OH had kindly fitted my free Kellogs cyclometer yesterday I thought I would give it a try. I did 1 hour 30 minutes cycling and covered 14 miles - not particularly impressive, but it's all these hills (mental note to move back to Norfolk some time) - I didn't get off to walk once - just used the good old granny gear. Top speed 25miles per hour (obviously down one of those hills), average speed 9.45 miles, can't get the little gadget to switch off now
FFM
Wow FFM, I'd be so pleased if I managed those sort of stats on hills! I'm pleased with an average of 9mph on the flat!! I was so chuffed the other week when I did 18 miles in under 2 hours! I probably wouldn't be brave enough to get up to 25mph downhill either - DH is always taking the mickey about me going downhill even slower than uphill:rotfl: ! I couldn't live without a cycle computer though - they're great little gadgets!

How could I ever forget ditchling beacon? and no, I have never cycled all the way up, both times I had to get off and push - but I felt no shame most people had to walk up.
You may have seen my earlier post, you're right it's not our feet that suffer. If I go for it next year I'll be tougher and adequately padded

Hi Lemon Drop, maybe those glasses I got from specsavers weren't so good, if you can't see it's not so scarey.
9 mph on the flat is good too. Do you think it's more of a work out on a hilly route to a flat route? 'Cos for every hill you climb you get to free wheel down, but on the flat you always have to cycle. Really should get to grips with physics.

FFM).
my claim to fame from my past life is that I have once cycled all the way up ditchling beacon without stopping, but of course not during the race - too many holdup from other cyclists to manage that (that was my excuse at the time and I'm sticking too it:rotfl: ).I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
