I still do it beanielou our grown kids too. I think it sticks from childhood......I wish this blessed weight lark was the same! :rotfl:funkyfunkymonkey wrote: »sue-uu, how about camomile tea before bed - it is an acquired taste so will probably take about 20 before you 'like' it.
I had a hm beef and mushroom pie for tea, followed by the fudge cake - haven't yet totalled by calories yet for the day, will no doubt have some porridge before bed anyway.

Thanks for the Camomile tea suggestion FFM I'll definately give anything a try. BTW What does fm stand for with the pie and fudge cake? Haven't had ordinary chocolate for years, except for Christmas, wouldn't dare to either!

Thanks for your advice on the menus everyone. I'll have to write them down, but to be perfectly honest I'll have to adapt most of them as I'm limited by my IBS as to what I can eat....
As far as I know at the minute, I can't eat the following:
eggs
mayonnaise
lamb
turnip/swede
cabbage
beansprouts
bamboo shoots
and I probably shouldn't eat :
onions,
beef
pork
It's also complicated by the fact that I don't really like fish except for tuna, haddock, cod & monkfish....
The good news is, I found a local butchers who do "slimming world sausages" and I'm taking it that they're syn free until I'm told otherwise... so I'm having sausage butties for breakfast tomorrow.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
You have my sympathy with the IBS dellybelly, a horrible ailment.
Pork is definately supposed to be out as it's pig and anything pig is said to be no good for IBS. Onions won't be doing you any good either as they're inclined to make you 'go' more!

Hi all
Interested to read about measuring the wrist to decide on body frame (petite or otherwise) - I saw something along those lines somewhere that recommended you wrap your fingers around your wrist, and if the fingers overlapped that meant you were a small frame, if they met, you were a medium frame, and if they didn't meet, you are a large frame. My wrists measure 7inches exactly, but my hands are 8 inches long - wrist to tip of middle finger - so my fingers overlapped. Well maybe I'm kidding myself, but as someone who is close to 6' tall and was still size 14/16 at my thinnest, I hardly think I can be described as having a small frame!!! :rotfl: The flaw in that theory is that large framed people are likely to have big hands too!Sue-UU - Also, no peas and pulses? I thought pulses were supposed to be good for us?
Hi Sue - this is on Slimming World, which has red days when you can eat lots of protein, and green days when you can eat lots of carbs - the p foods are not free food on red days, but they are on green days.FFM - They (Curlywurlies) must have shrunk since I had them as a kid - they used to be huge
They're full of holes FFM, and the holes are calorie free:D My DH always says the same thing about Wagon Wheels - he reckons they used to be the size of a plate, yet the manufacturers claim they haven't changed at all, it's our memories that have exaggerated them....
On the subject of porridge, it really is perfect breakfast food as it's just oats, so it's entirely up to us what we add to it - I remember as a child, eating it with a huge dollop of golden syrup and a swirl of evaporated milk- my mother has a very sweet tooth and sadly she passed it onto her children. It's also supposed to help reduce cholesterol, but not if you add evaporated milk!
Off for a soak in the bath - night night

I have to confess to a lapse of half a packet of Haribos this evening. That definitely wasn't in the plan  I'll do penance of half an hour on the bike in a minute. I'm such a twerp!
Ah thanks FFM, the good old fashioned way then! I like maps, but I thought maybe you had a gadget or something
Hopefully you'll soon get into the swing of things Sue. It's not easy - I constantly struggle with getting the right balance between my intake and exercise (definitely haven't got it right yet). It must be even more difficult if there are medical issues to think about, but good luck. If you get stuck on any of the number crunching bits, I'll always try to help
Beanie no I haven't heard of a new fitness game for the DS? The one I'm interested in at the moment is "Family Ski" for the wii, not sure if it'll be too "gamey" for me though. I don't like games - only the wii fit
Sympathy from me too Delly, it's a right pain having certain foods you can't eat for whatever reason, especially when it's stuff you like and is good for you.
Right then... on yer bike Missy! Might pop back after and make sure everyone is behaving0 -
LL, your DH is absolutely right, wagon wheels did used to be the size of dinner plates - they have definitely shrunk.
Sue, I do quite a lot of homemade bread, pizza, cakes, hobnobs, pies, yogurt etc, I'm part of the grocery challenge on Old Style. It saves me bucket loads of cash + I know exactly what is going into the Monkey household meals. Home baking can be problematic when losing weight 'cos it's usually tastier and the smell more tempting than shop bought things. I'm usually okay once I have had a 'taste' (although the choc fudge cake is a killer).
missyg, I love maps too, after my bike ride this morning I drew a cross section of my route using the contours from the map - like we used to do in 'O' level geography when I was a kid. Funnily enough DS and DH didn't find my cross section very interesting- I wanted to show them where all the hills were. I also noticed that if I'd taken a slightly longer route I wouldn't have needed to go over the 120mAOD hill, although my house is at 85mAOD, I could have completed the rest of the journey no higher than 40mAOD.
BB, I spent ages chosing my first pair of glasses, this time I stayed at the rectangular shaped display as I thought that was what I wanted, tried a few on - I thought they all looked the same on me, and looked 'okayish' (well I don't have to see me anyway  ) and went for 'a pair'. Not very scientific and no one has said they don't like them, probably too scared :rotfl:

If we're doing confessions, then I must confess I had two mini pork pies on the way home from the gymthey were very scrummy

Ah, that makes perfect sense now, thanks very much for putting me wise there as my hubby was almost distraught at not having peas and parsnips again! Thanks a lot Lois.missyg wrote:Hopefully you'll soon get into the swing of things Sue. I'm sure I will missyg, up until the above ailments I'd been fine and never needed to diet, so this has been a whole new thing of late, but in time I'll get there as I hate being too overweight. Thank you so much for your kind offer, I may well need to take you up on it, we'll see. Thanks for now.
Thank you too FFM, I must have a look at the grocery challenge on Old Style, it's good to broaden (and cheapen) all food where possible. My hubby stopped me from making cakes some years ago as he was coming in and tucking in far too much! Thanks for explaining it all.
I feel I've had a good day today, especially food and weight wise, so all in all I'm happy and have no confessions raph, though they didn't half sound good.
